Summon Dark Combat Fleet -- I feel kind of ripped off :P

Not ripped off by the game, I mean..the game is absolutely fabulous. I will join in with others and say that the VL seem a bit OP...but maybe I'm just not very good with TEC and Advent yet.

Anyway, I finally saved up the 7500 credits, etc, to summon dark fleet..and..well, it kind of sucks.

7500 for 5 heavy cruisers and a spattering of light frigates? Seriously? What's the benefit of this? Is it just that they spawn instantly? I was expecting a BIG fleet. What I got was a fleet that could MAYBE protect a single gravity well from a mid-sized force.

Am I missing something? Even if those ships combined cost 7500 credits, its not much of an advantage that they spawn instantly. It feels kind of useless, imho.

With Vasari mobility, I can just station a support force on any world with a phase stabilizer and achieve the same thing..therefor, the ability is just there to look cool, isn't it?

Granted, this is all coming from a guy who thought that Drain Planet was how the Vasari stripped a world to core. Glad I figured that one out.

Marginally? SBx2 seems a bit better than marginally... and if the other 2 aren't TEC Econ, you shouldn't be THAT far behind if you try to go for it. (I'm talking a little ways into the game, not Novas and SB out the gate...that's crazy talk.)

Yeah, the thing is you get Novaliths before you get double starbases. If you're playing TEC Loyalits competitively, your only real great and unique tactical option is get trade and to get those Novaliths early to force your opponents to waste money on starbases and to hurt their credit incomes.

Also, double starbases isn't really that great of a benefit compared to wail, jumping starbases or striping planets. That is because you need to actually buy the starbases, and just getting one is expensive enough. The others require only minor or no extra expenditures to come into effect.

Not to mention that most people will hesitate to attack a single upgraded starbase..... especially for TEC with Big Red Button...

so they will either avoid it or bomber spam it into oblivion.

If you build 2 Starbases... they are most certain to bomber spam both starbases away.... it just takes a few more minutes.

While true but 2 starbases can essentially block every gravity well due to the threat of being red buttoned as soon as you jump in.

I will admit I dont play TEC often, but is that really enough to "block" the entry to larger planets? Like ICE, Vulcanic, Desert or Terran?

Yes, they increased the range of BRB in a rebellion patch quite a while ago. So you can basically cover every gravity well with is, save for wormholes and suns.

Actually they nerfed it back. You now cannot block an entire phase lane with 1 red button, however you do need to know how to control where your ships jump in at. But that's just with one SB, with two you could always block 1 phase lane.

Hi. BRB enthusiast here. You can try to block off phase lanes, but if your opponent scouts then they can avoid it relatively easily. Mines do help blocking off these alternative paths however, and sometimes people don't realise how far BRB stretches. in which case, its boom time.

Imo best way to lure someone in is to pretend you got the underhand/make em think you wouldn't boom. Use a damaged cap to lure em in, build important buildings nearby...make em unwary. Then its boom time.

I tried doing death fleet once.  I kept a few planets.  At least 4, so I could have a Kostura.  I use it for the phase stabilizer thing.
