What we know so far:

 

The mod will be set around 25 years after the events on Miranda.This will allow us to stay as close to cannon as we can, while using creative license to fill in the gaps where we have to.

According to what I've read about the series as well as maps that have been correlated between episodes, the movie, and extra documentation ... it is a 'super system' or a 'cluster of stars that orbit each other that all have planetoids' etc ...

 

It is not just a classic single star system.

Considering Alpha Centauri is technically a binary system with a star called Alpha Centauri and one called Beta Centauri, there can be multiple stars in one system.  There's also Capella with two binary pairs of stars in one systems, so there's no reason why the Firefly 'verse couldn't be one system with multiple stars.

I built a quick and dirty Brown Coat titan model in ZBrush that came out @ 8k polys. I think Zbrush will work fine Sins models. There's really no need to subdivide more than twice here. I'll ask Major Stress for the poly limit of each ship class.
