Quoting Cruxador, reply 10I don't really like this flowchart. It disregards the possibility of a person thoroughly reading and assessing the situation and still hanging around for discussion. Or for insults, as the case may be.
I've seen enough political flame wars to know that it's extremely rare for the people discussing it to have actually read what's going on fully.[/quote
Perhaps we hang out in different places, but I find that people who fail to read posts are the exception rather than the rule.
Besides that, anyone who gets "angry" about a discussion on the Internet should probably find something else to do.
The stuff from the Trayvon Martin case would be a good example of that. People were sending Zimmerman death threats and there was a bounty put on him and how many people had bothered to actually look at the facts? I have no idea what the courts will decide with him. I do know that I'm not going to expend energy hating on Zimmerman one way or the other.
And let's remember, the media has its own agenda in these kinds of things. We get played a 911 call tape where they ask him to quit following Trayvon and people latch on to that.
Well yes, that got a bit out of hand. Do remember that most people assume the media is more or less accurate and don't really think about the manipulation of facts that media tends to indulge in. While you could argue that this is just as bad, it is nonetheless a form of naivety rather than the sloth of simply not reading a person's argument.
