TEC Ships

What were the orginal purpose of the sihps.

So I just want your answers guys. Since the TEC had a trader fleet not fit for war, what do you think of the ships of those. Like the Dunov is a super-freighter while the Akkan IMO was originally a cruise liner. What do you guys think.

It is said the Kol (and maybe the Corsev) were the only intentionally built warships. The other 4 caps were all civilian vessels, likely trade ships or freighters.

I think the Corsev was some sort of fuel tanker, or mineral carrier. Hence the 4 big container bits.

IIRC, it's that the Kol was merely the first ship intentionally built as a warship- at least for a very long time. I think it's fairly obvious that some vessels were pretty explicitly warships; things like the Garda and Javelis in particular- as well as the Ogrov- come to mind.

The Dunov and Akkan are explicitly mentioned as civilian shipping/personnel transport craft that were converted to warships; the Marza is a large-scale astronomical body demolitions/mining platform [IIRC, it's called a "planetoid wrecking and recovery" something-or-other]. The Sova is mentioned as being a long-serving anti-pirate vessel.

As the above poster mentioned, the Corsev was probably a tanker. Hosikos are mentioned as being converted to the purpose of war as well; Percherons are also likely converted hulls, as are, IMO, Kodiaks. The Raloz is likely also a converted ship in terms of concept- it might be that at one point such ships were used commonly for orbital structure building. The Neruda envoy cruiser is almost certainly a converted hull- or at least a late-war program for ships intended specifically for diplomatic purposes.

The Krosov, IIRC, is mentioned as being a converted freighter of some variety. Protevs are pretty obviously "civilian with piddly guns bolted on", as is the Arcova. The Cobalt I'm not so sure of; it just seems too purpose-built as a warship, and doesn't appear to really have the internal volume for cargo carriage in useful [IE, economically sensible/competitive] amounts, but I could very well be wrong. On top of that, I'd say that the corvette hulls, and pretty obviously the Titans, are both purpose-built warships.

At the very least, that's my take on it.

I just meant of the capitalships. Yes several if not most of the frigates are clearly purpose built.

I believe the Percherons were one of the few warships they had before the war, I think somewhere it mentions them using light carriers to deal with pirates.

The Kol (and maybe the Corsev) are the only true combat capital ships ever designed by the TEC. All others are actually retrofitted from civilian or industry ships. I'm not even sure the Corsev is a dedicated combat ship as it has very lack luster stats and abilities, which don't seem to fit the role of a combat ship. Rather, it gives me the impressive that this was a very hastily converted boarding ship.

Which kinda explains y the TEC have some of the most unorthodox looking caps in the game. The other factions had ships that you could tell were clearly designed for war (minus the Evacuator aka Motherbun XD), based on their streamlined design and heavy armaments. TEC ships have more...........indirect abilities and their general designs seem to trace back to their industrial/civilian eras.

But still, the Kol looks pretty badass, and like its always 5 seconds away from wanting to blow stuff up XD

Whiskey pretty much nailed it.  Although I believe the manual does say the Corsev was a freighter.  And the Kodiak was listed as designed for clearing asteroid fields.

Sova --> Pirate Defense Ship

Akkan --> Civilian Transport

Kol --> Battleship

Dunov --> Freighter

Marza --> Small Planetoid/Asteroid Destructor

Corsev --> I guess you folks are saying a freighter (I don't have Rebellion Manual)
