RAMPANT MDs AND DCs -- What was changed????

Within the past several weeks, the MDs and DCs have gone absolutely wild...

This is no longer like MDs and DCs of old, where typically just one person would MD out....last night I played a game and FOUR people MDed at the same time....just played a game tonight where FIVE people MDed at the same time (a sixth MDed after exiting)....other regular players have reported similar experiences....

The situation online has gotten really bad, really bad, and there is a noticeable difference between now and before several weeks ago...

I don't know if the servers got changed, the most recent update did something or what, but as of late I've played more games with multiple simultaneous MDs/DCs than not....

I don't what you are talking about.  Not everyone knows all of the shorthand versions of whatever this is.  Ships? Srategies?

My first guess was Medical Docters and District of Colombia.

This is the first time I have ever encountered these.

Minidumps and Disconnects. In other words technical problems.

You know one thing I noticed with the 1.041 update is that the game seems to autosave a lot more often (right?). Maybe that has something to do with it.

Don't know if this was a MD, but you got dropped from the brony match a couple weeks ago.

What is a brony match?  I know what a brony is, sorta.

It was a disconnect. I reported that to the devs so we'll see what happens.

Wasn't there an issue awhile back where if players have their 'auto-saves' at different times, they would be a De-sync? Not sure if this is related.

Yeah but it checks for desyncs at autosaves know, so those should be detected.

Maybe that is the issue now. :P

But it did that several patches ago too. There's no reason they would start up in the last few weeks.

All I know is that it's awful...I've also noticed that I get a lot of errors while running the dev.exe...VANILLA sins in dev.exe...some of them are music related, but then a bunch are related to some Japanese file...they haven't crashed the game yet but it makes me wonder....if the dev.exe is constantly picking up errors in normal vanilla sins, me thinks the last updated did something to make things worse....

During MP I don't crash that often, altho during mods I crash insanely much :/

Everything looks normal on our end. If you guys are getting minidumps, please send us your dump files so we can investigate.

I already did, said that patch 1.1 would fix it possibly(I had constant crashes before, until I updated my drivers, so not sure if these things will be fixed, but the constant errors I had before should be fixed), and that it would be released 1 week after he send me the last PM, which was about a month ago now...Oh well, development cycles :)

edit: Let me rephrase, I can't play mods at all, crashes each 10 mins or so :|

If it appears to be random crashes, lower you graphics settings. If it's a RAM issue that should let you play longer at least without crashing.

I haven't had many issues? o_O

Hmm, I forgot about that stupid RAM limitation...I'll try lowering my graphics :)

I can't give a dump file if I wasn't one of the people who dumped...sorry...

2 more dumped in a 6 ffa....it isn't just the big games...

How many unique players each week?  How much strain can 30 people put on the servers?  Things should be running really smooth.

To copypasta part of a reply I've given people who've reported that about SoGE:

Assuming you are on Windows, that the partition/hard drive you are running Sins off of lacks a paging file, which ensures that Sins cannot use up to 2 GB of RAM, as it should be. The solution to this is to enable a paging file, or use Large Address Aware on Sins' exe, though the latter method is not recommended and doesn't always do the trick.

Here is the link to my 2 most recent dump files...had 3 people dump in last game, all at the same time...I can't even remember the last game I played where no one MDed....

I was under the impression that dump files were sent automatically...are you not getting them or am I wrong in that they aren't automatically sent?

Well, before the 1.4 EVERYTHING worked PERFECTLY, rarely a crash, mods were perfect as well, NEVER a crash, even changed a few things myself with 100% working. And now every mod crashes every 10 mins or so :/

2 games today where the lobby crashed...had teams set up and the BOOM...crash...most people were DCed, a few were sent back to lobby 1....

I don't know how to say this nicely....something is wrong with ICO....it is noticeably worse than it was several weeks ago, and it isn't just me...

I would like to reiterate that there are ERRORS cropping up while running the dev.exe VANILLA (no mods)....one of these errors is related to a file that has the word Japanese somewhere in the name...next time I see it I'll copy the exact error and post it....

The last update also fixed "some localization issues with our Japanese publishing partner"...

Coincidence?

There is also an error related to music that keeps popping up...again, I haven't gotten an MD after these errors pop up, but that's with just me on the dev.exe...larger games could be totally different in that regard.....
