Enemy Culture too High to Colonize

Hello,

I'm playing a custom map and have been slowly pushing forward with my awesome fleet.

NOW! I've just got to a new planet, destroyed all enemies and killed the population.

Now, I sent my Colony ship in their and it's just waiting for the culture to die down.

The problem being that my 16 capital ships, Titan and 2 starbases have been sitting here for about 20 minutes waiting for the planet to be Colonized.

Is there a way to spread my culture via ships?

I can't build any more culture buildings and I THINK that the enemies culture is overpowering all my ships slowly!

I'm playing against 2 advent AI's, one Loyal, one rebel. I'm playing as TEC.

If so many capships and a Titan is not enough to repell the culture there have to be several culture centers at close by planets.

You need to attack a few more planets and destroy their culture centers. Keep in mind that with Global Unity you need to actually wipe out any Advent Loyalists planets to entirely remove their culture spread.

Once their culture centers are destroyed, colonize the planet, build one tradeport and the maximum possible ammount of culture centers. This should allow you to finally advance.

If you play against Advent you need to "out culture" them. Vs Advent Loyalist it will be much harder against the recent 1.1 buffs.

Cap ships repel culture. They do not create culture themselves. A full fleet of cap ships cannot repel fully researched Advent Loyalist culture. If Deliverance Engines are on the map you have an even bigger problem, because they were buffed in 1.1 :)

Do what Aresiv suggested. If you are playing as Advent just use the Deliverance Engine on an adjacent planet. That should wipe enough culture to get colonized.

As weird as it sounds, sometimes I find it more effective to put caps one planet away from the culture I'm clearing. Caps work best when there is culture coming towards the planet is at, not at a planet already surrounded by it.

Alternatively, if you have maxed out cap and a titan just blow up the nearest enemy culture centers.

Also if all else fails penetrate deeper itno enemy territory to kill the culture structures creating the enemy culture- then double back and colonize.

The advice I was going to say has already been said. If you aren't able to repel culture at one planet, odds are there's at least one planet with multiple media centers in orbit. I found the AI had built like seven media hubs in one gravity well at one point on one of my maps; it made clearing them out incredibly frustrating, since I had to send out a few scouts to find the source of the culture.

And as was also said, one the Advent, especially the Loyalists, get their culture research finished, their culture is incredibly difficult to combat.

ai loves building lots of culture towers.  I agree ^, get caps between culture generating world and the one you want to colonize.  Also, use anti-module fleet with anti-fighter fleet to rip through culture towers.

Actually the best strategy is to use a Starbase and put aux govt on it.  then you can capture the planet immediately even with the enemies culture there.  with Aux Govt o nth Starbase it will also prevent the planet from being over thrown.

Trust me, I do this all the time works great.

Just build cultural buildings close to the enemy to push your own culture out there.

Nice tip Darksxx.

Aux Gov't doesn't work vs. culture flipping. Only vs Bombardment.

I'm going to disagree Stress, Ive taken over many planets with this tactic.  it has always allowed me to colonize a planet with Aux in place.  And I'm referring to a planet that has already been bombarded.  it when you get that notice enemy culture is to high to allow you access to colonizing the planet. this is where aux comes in and lets you take it.

I dont usually have to use this tactic, but I will double check it to be sure.

I didn't use your tactic, but I have flipped planets with culture (Culture Centers plus DE), and they had Starbase's with Aux Govt. I wouldn't have said it if i didn't do it. Go ahead, and check it out. The way i see it is that it's an advantage for the Advent where they can cap worlds without bombardment at all.

Okay, yea I have done this with the TEC too.  So yes, the Advent do have an advantage with culture speading.

I was just referring to the question that was asked on how to beat it,  so yes it takes a little longer to take a planet if you have to wait out the culture spread.  so the fastest way Ive found was to Aux a starbase and move on to the next.

Stress, got a question for you.  off topic of course.  do you know of anyway to mod it so you have a choice of the two Titans to build?  Where is this controlled from? Ive checked, but I cant seem to pin this one down.  Not hard coded is it?

Quoting what others said in some threads, the cap is hardcoded at 1. However you can spawn more via abilities.

I think he just wants to unlock both race's Titans for a faction instead of just the factional one.  That's easy.  You just need to clone their .entity files and change the clones to use that faction's titan unlock research instead of the one they usually have.  For example, the Ragnarov uses "RESEARCHSUBJECT_TITANACCESS_TECHREBEL_1" as its research prerequisite and the cloned one should use "RESEARCHSUBJECT_TITANACCESS_TECHLOYALIST_1".  You're also going to need to add the cloned Titans to each faction's PlayerRace.entity file and Entity.manifest.  Do that for all races and you're good.

Or you can add the research, and appropriate entity's, and edits in the player faction file. On top the existing factions Titan that will unlock another factions Titan so that you have a choice of which titan you can build. How you would do that is a little above my pay grade.

Back on topic..

Up against Advent factions, its highly advised to build up your culture real quick. Caps and Titans can only repel culture, not spread it. SBs can however be upgraded to spread culture. Your best bet is to seek out the enemy's culture hubs and take them out before falling b to colonize and consolidate.

Only advent starbases can be equipped with culture spread.... and you should do it only when absolutly necessary as it is quite a waste of  a starbase.
