Any way to run Entrenchment from Rebellion?

Hey,

 

To be honest, the only reason I play Sins nowadays is for the 7DS mod. I was going to buy Trinity so that I could play 7DS 2.5, but then saw that Rebellion had been released and figured I would save some money by buying it instead and running just entrenchment (I saw that Entrenchment and Diplomacy were separate in Trinity, I assumed this would remain the same).

I can not find a way to load Entrenchment by itself, and I'm unwilling to buy Trinity as I have already bought Rebellion, that would be silly. AND there's not even an estimate for when 7DS 3.0 will be released for Rebellion. Also, its really hard to go back and play basic Sins after playing 7DS... Just on content included alone, it makes 'Vanilla' Sins virtually unplayable, as it is bland and limited. Don't even get me started with the immense $40.00 disappointment that Rebellion has been.

If anyone can help me out, that'd be great. I'm not going to buy a game that I already have the content for, and I'd prefer not to pirate.

You know there are a ton of other mods besides 7DS right? And virtually all of them, probably including 7DS, will be porting to Rebellion eventually. So I don't think your purchase will be in vain if you're willing to explore a little.

I've tried several =/. Unfortunately there's only a couple complete mods for Rebellion, such as Maelstorm (adds two 'new'  races that seems like TEC and Advent redos) and Fall of Kobol, which I wasn't impressed with. I haven't tried Crazy, but it gets a patch for crashes every couple of weeks and doesn't seem to have added much past Sins Plus.

I get the feeling you really didn't try either.

In Diplomacy Maelstrom was by far the most polished mod that added new races out there. It had 3 races then so they're probably still converting over.

Sins of a Galactic Empire is probably the other main mod that adds new races I'd recommend.

Indeed. Distant Stars may not be complete but it will run with Rebellion.

I was wondering about this too. I was thinking of purchasing rebellion, and was wondering if I would be able to run diplomacy owning only base and rebellion. I would mostly be interested because the mods for diplomacy appear to be numerous and in general more completed / higher quality.

No, Rebellion has all the content but it is not backward compatible.

That said, I have no doubt that once the mods for Rebellion have had as much time as they did for Diplomacy, they will be as good if not much better. Unless say you're a huge Warhammer 40k fan, which only has had a (mostly incomplete) mod in Entrenchment and the project is officially dead, I see no reason for new players not get Rebellion, because most mods are planning on porting to Rebellion.

Mods will eventually port over to Rebellion; most are currently in the process of converting over, such as DS and Maelstrom. Others, such as Fall of Kobol, E4X, and SoGE, have not only converted over to Rebellion but have surpassed their Trinity versions in terms of content/polish.

Getting Rebellion isn't a waste of money at all; it's an investment in the future of Sins' modding community, and one that can be utilized and enjoyed even in the present.

If you want to pick up Sins: Trinity for mod purposes, it'll be on-sale in the nearish future.
