Rebellion Pauses to Catch Its Breath

This is a problem that I have only had with one ongoing saved game.  I have played other games since then without a repeat. I also checked to see if anyone else had mentioned it, but did not find anything, so I will describe the problem and if anyone has a suggestion or comment please feel free to chime in.

In a game of Rebellion, 1 human vs. 9 AI players, the computer has started locking up for 10-20 seconds.  Then it comes back for about 10 seconds, then locks up again, then releases, then locks up, etc. etc.  I have tried updating both the game and the computer, and rebooting as well. Same problem, different day.  We are at the mid-game point (5 players and pirates gone, and this issue only showed up about 15 minutes ago (game time).

I could just abandon the game and move on, but it was just getting interesting.

I have played larger and longer games and have never had this happen.  I am playing another similar game right now, and have not experienced the same malfunction.  Any thoughts?

Since it is only this game and no others, it seems unlikely that "general lag" or "old hardware" is the issue...

It could be a freak occurrence where the game runs into an infinite loop or something very processor intensive...something not meant to happen and likewise is a bug rarely encountered...it could also be an issue with particle effects not timing out like they are supposed to...

Check task manager while you run this saved game...what is Sins memory usage and processing?

The stats are essentially the same when I fire up this saved game vs. a saved game that is still running correctly...one core at 40-60% usage with others showing minimal activity, total memory usage at 3.2MB out of 8.  The applications tab shows Rebellion at "not responding" while it is locked up, then goes back to "running" for the 10 seconds when it starts up again, etc.

I was hoping that this was just some sort of "error on save" in the game file that I could edit to correct.

The developers may want that save, don't delete it yet.
