I wish you would have posted sooner. I think Rebellion is the better deal as it has everything, so if you do like it, you have the difficult choice of whether to "Upgrade" or not.

I just wrote this guide for Rebellion, but except for some of the new units in the unit FAQs and the custom map I linked I think it all holds true to trinity. Otherwise, just browse through the strategy section of this website, lots of good tips there.

To be clear, Trinity contains 3 Separate games, each adding additional units and gameplay. Rebellion is all units and game play in one game, plus more.

If you can get Rebellion, you should because the others are obsolete once you have that. I would say the one reason to get Trinity at this point is if you want to ease into the additional Units and gameplay. It also makes more sense to learn factions pre-Rebellion since they Split; helps you understand how to use them before layering the factional 'Flavors' on top,

So I finally got around to playing through the Tutorials to try and gain a basic grasp of the game and I also wactched a couple of LP? videos on Youtube.

Once I had finished the generic Tutorials I had intended to pay GoaFan77's custom mod for further learning the ropes..... However, I have a problem that makes me not want to play.

I am having lot of trouble with zooming in ( to get a better view of ships and battles ) and also zooming back out ( so I can see the various planets near me ).

My mouse wheel seems to not zoom in and out for some reason ( I don't have a fancy mouse its just a standard Digital Mouse with Left button, Wheel, Right Button  )

 Anyone have any suggestions on what to do to fix, or workaround this issue? Even the tutorials were a pain with zooming being such a pain.

** Yes I am aware there are keyboard buttons to zoom with but it is really a pain to use them as it tends to zoom in too far, or out too far. Like I said, it made the tutorials frustrating for me.

It should work just fine. Check your mouse driver is up to date.

You might also try opening a ticket with support@stardock.com see if they have any resolutions.

Then it's a driver issue, almost certainly. I don't know your level of technical expertise, so forgive me if I'm telling you things you already know, but drivers are bits of software that instruct the computer/OS on how to interface with bits of hardware. Usually, a mouse, for example, will work with the OS in general with generic drivers, but it may not work with some programs, such as Sins. You can get current drivers from the mouse manufacturers website, usually in a product support section. The model of your mouse is most likely labelled on its underside, somewhere.

There is another slim possibility that, assuming you are using a version of Windows, your Windows mouse settings are set NOT to allow third party programs to use custom mouse key/wheel layouts.

First question I have is why would Sins be the only program I've ever used that is having this issue?

Secondly, I can't tell what model this mouse is. It has an HP logo on the top and I sure as heck don't see a model number  It was a generic mouse that came with a HP PC I bought several years ago. No longer have that PC [ HP's suck.. ] but I do still use the mouse.

There is some very faint wording on the upper top of the bottom side so if that is where the model number was then I'm screwed because its too worn down to read ( lol )

As far as wireless, I don't ever use wireless. I tried a wireless keyboard and mouse setup a few years ago. Worst experience ever - wireless devices can have their signals interfered with far too easily.

I had already tried unhooking and reconnecting the mouse. However the only thing it says is ' HID-compliant mouse '

Overall I gave up on finding specific drivers. HP is notoriously bad about using crappy parts from random companies. It can be nigh impossible to track down specific drivers for anything that comes with an HP ( with the exception of the more important components such as the Video Card, CPU, and Ram ). I am glad I had a system custom built for me in 2009 to get rid of that HP [ i passed it down to my girlfriend since it was better than her old one ].

I was going to say that: HP OEM (original equipment manufacturer) hardware is notoriously bad and hard to find model numbers for, as HP doesn't let the actual manufacturer put that information on and instead hides an HP part number somewhere instead (often internally). My advice, buy a better mouse from Logitech or Microsoft (I'm really partial to Microsoft hardware, they're really good at it - surprisingly). There are other manufacturers, of course, and many of them are quite good, but with those two you can get something inexpensive and good quality without having to mess around with reviews and risk-taking.

Incidentally, I own a small consumer/small-business IT support and computer repair company. I have a hard time letting go when someone's having an issue, especially a hardware issue.

Anyway, all that's what I was going to say, but since we're back on strategy only now... um... So, how about them TEC Rebels, huh? Great season they're having...

I applied for SSI in November of 2009. They denied me. I appealed the decision. I did not get my appeal hearing in front of an Administrative Law Judge until April 26th 2011. The judge didn't officially deny my claim until August 15th. I appealed the decision so the Appeals Council would review it. My case wasn't reviewed until last month.

The Appeals Council ruled that the judge ignored substantial evidence as well as made the ruling without the input of Vocational experts [ which is supposed to be required ]. However, instead of just approving my claim, the Appeals Council decided to kick my case back down for a new hearing. It is possible it could even be in front of the same incompetent Judge - I hope not though.

What is even worse about my issue?  In January of last year the state that I live ruled that I am disabled and granted me Medicaid. They denied my original application but I appealed of course. I then had an appeals hearing with the Medicaid ALJ . This judge ruled in my favor and agreed that I am disabled.

So..... The Medicaid ALJ had exactly the same medical records as the S.S ALJ in order to make a determination... yet I got two different ruling outcomes - makes total sense right? I am disabled but I am not?

Wow - someone is a presumptuous jerk. You don't and can't understand what it is like for people that have chronic illnesses that leave them in pain every minute of their waking life? Do you think WE WANT this?

Personally, I am on over 2000 dollars a month of prescription medications and even that isn't enough. Both my rheumatologist and neurologist believe that they can't do much more for me than try to alleviate a very small portion of the pain - and as I get older it will get worse as the psoriatic arthritis continues to cripple my joints. I will never be able to get married to my g/f because it would take away my medical coverage. I won't have children because I don't want to raise a kid who will be teased and bullied because their family is poor. I won't ever get to own a home because SSI doesn't pay out enough.

Frankly, I think you deserve to be banned from these forums for that kind of comment - it is just about as bad as being racist or sexist.
