Please advise Router settings for internet direct connect

For Direct IP not ironclad online

I want to test it without mucking around to much

Is it just port 6112 that needs opening at both ends (for either to host)??

Yes, you need to open just port 6112 to host. You don't need to open any port to connect to another host.
