Yes. In fact if you're talking about Rebellion its a steamworks game so everyone uses steam.

from what little I know, the location for placing mods does NOT alter between supply paths for the program, only with the patch version number and expansion. eg vanilla sins 1.19,entrenchment 1.xx diplomacy 1.37 and rebellion 1.10

The tutorial doesnt really help because buying it from ironclad 2 years ago and buying from steam now are...kinda 2 different things 2 years is a long time, secondly yes it is Rebellion sorry i forgot to add, i even tried the things in tutorial i have no idea where the mod file could be

I have the steam version from rebellion and it works very well with mods. In fact probably the unique difference is the auto update and nothing more.

PDS: I have not idea about if there is other version. At least my soase trinity was not from steam.

Where do I install the Mods?

The easiest way to find where to place the mod is through the game menu. Select "Options" in the main menu the select "Mods" then "Show Mod Path". Pressing "Show Mod Path" should create the folder if there is not one already.

Options Button  Mods Button  Show Mod Path Button

Vista & 7

Rebellion
C:\Users\[username]\Documents\My Games\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion\Mods-Rebellion v1.1\...

Downloading a rebellion compatible mod would be extracted to this directory.

doesnt get more simple than that

this works for all versions of soase, for finding the mods folder for your version.

The mysterious "Show Mod Path" strikes again!  :ninja:

Yeah, it does.  I have purchased versions both from Ironclad, and from Steam, and they both work fine with mods.  The only difference is that the Steam version is auto updating.

That is a major improvement, and you can move that folder to a different drive as well. Between mods for 3 different versions, saves, screen shots, debug texts, recordings, that folder has come close to 100 gigs a few times. Not to mention 2 mins of clicking folders to get to it.

Not that I own Rebellion, or ever plan to buy it. Well, when it hits a buck, ............................ maybe.

Which you can change if it's giving you issues.

I have seen a few posts where people turn this off and it updates anyway.

Doesn't for me.

What sins does specifically for me is install ms visual C++ every time I start it. It's the only game that has ever done that kind of thing.

Rebellion users. You could be using Trinity on Steam and the appdata folder would be correct.

I have noticed steam has a bad habit of resetting this option for me, and I've had users of my mod complain of that fact as well.

You should send Gabe an ocean of hatemail until he fixes it in that case.

If the latest Steam update hasn't already fixed this (or you don't want to update yet) it may be worth checking out KevSteele's solution in this thread.

Long story short.. There are no differences between the steam versions of Sins, and the Retail/Impulse versions of Sins. Except that you need Steam open (be it in online or offline mode) to run them. The mod files go in the same places (except with Rebellion), and it all works just the same.
