Just bourght the game, but i am wondering.

Hey all.

 

Just bourght this awsome game on steam "Sins of solar empire rebellion"

 

But i am wondering if there is any point buying the first 3 games?

Do they have anything to do with rebellion and is there any content i can use in rebellion from the previous 3 games?

I am aiming to play online competive so i dont really care about single player content.

No point in buying the Trinity series. Rebellion being the standalone has all the features of the previous 3 and then some.

Online competitive is a bit tough to break your way into due to the small group that it is. Ask around in the "5s" Games to see if anyone there is willing to help out. Probably is but a lot will probably relegate you to watching Replays in order to observe various strategies.

Rebellion is a stand alone release but it is basically built on top of the other games, there is pretty much nothing in the other games that is not in trinity. So no, there really is no point in getting the older games.  ;)

 

That said, if you really care about the story, you may want to watch the intro videos for the Original Sins of a Solar Empire and the Trinity edition on YouTube, they aren't as awesome as the Rebellion intro cinematic but they might have more details about the earlier parts of the game's story.

I actually like the original soase intro more.  The pacing was great and very well matched by the music.
