Stellar Phenmona what? Oh?

I have to say.... they're very unnoticeable.

Honestly.

90% of the time I just completely miss the tiny notifications that pop up in bottom left corner.

Sometimes I happen to see a coronal ejaculation. And then economy changes.

Then I invaded an opposing planet with my heavy force intended to smash that tec starbase with over 20k hp.

And to my surprise there was some kind of event there that disabled ship's abilities.

It didn't screw me over at all... its just that I was forced to retreat every single one of my capitals once they went below 50% in hp. But the titan and other ships plus ogrovs stayed there and splattered the starbase eventually.

To be honest. I thought I was going to get my balls kicked in by the events but they feel so tame to the point where I ignore them and carry on like usual. ( I already ignore them in my current game in progression.) And there seeems to be nothing cool to find. I'm playing on Huge Multi random planets. 142 planets. Hoohah!

I did however manage to find something reasonably cool.

I managed to find a ship graveyard in one of isolated uncolonized star system in current game.

I raced my ass there and found out how funny it is. 0 population settlement? xD Soo.... there's no people working and taking ships apart there for res? Just all robots?

And then.... I'm not sure but, is this a blackhole?

I'm wagering this is a black hole. Because you see, that scout.. I placed there early in a different map yesterday.. and it vanished after when I came by to look at it like after 15 mins. It got sucked in by the blackhole I think.

To be honest I thought it was a graphic display glitch but after scout disappeared, I"m now wondering if it is a blackhole or not.

And then.. I had a good laugh at the expense of exploring!

My first time getting trolled by such results of discovery XD

Can you see what's so wrong with the picture? Can you?

Dwarf Planet... okay.

Metal asteroids.. okay.

Expert Crystal Miners.. okay.

Uhh, wait, if I remember correctly, there's no crystal to mine so how did this planet become experts at crystal mining? XD

And then.. for the fortress world discovery you say,

that it only spawns in faraway neutral worlds?

Well.. I did manage to find one.

I was playing as Tec Loyalist, and nitheim rebels went in as tec loyalist.. After I wiped them out in revenge because they was trying their hardest to wipe me out. It was early game, so after awhile I was settling and exploring the new worlds that was formerly nitheim.

Fortress world, Volcanic planet. OH. Holy that would've been utter trouble if I let nitheim rebels live long enough o.o Three star bases and with even more bell and whistles!? One of the routes to attack my homeworld is now absurdly secure. And it's still building up defenses. I think this is the most i ever had fortified a world.

And major problem with Stellar Phenomona as I explore the universe.. I truthfully have no idea what they're supposed to do. Some detailed info would be great and helpful.

Because you see that blackhole map had like eight antimatter wellspring areas around my capital.

I actually ragequited because I have no idea what they do and started a new game. I'm like a leader of this impossibly advanced civilization and I cannot get even information of such discovery :( I have scientists but they're not telling me what it's doing but they insist on researching a Javelin prototype! I want to know what this antimatter zone does for me! D=

So I had no choice but to restart a new game, there was simply too many of them and I have no idea what they do and I needed planets so it was easy to restart because it's at the moment is nothing but shiny blue sparkly fairies on black backdrop.

Yes, it is a problem i guess for everyone. But there is now a quiet sound warning you there is an event, still not that much and I always miss them. It is problematic, some kind of popup window or something would be really good to have details on the current event, it is just lame finding everything out on your own (and guessing), and many things can only be just guessed like the duration of those things or why some things happen like the revolts.

I raced my ass there and found out how funny it is. 0 population settlement? Soo.... there's no people working and taking ships apart there for res? Just all robots?

It has increased extraction income. Though getting some of the dead ships would be good like in some mods, though I won't make much crying about this.

And then.... I'm not sure but, is this a blackhole?

I assume you can read and understand English language. It is written in the ability description of the object and otherwise it is truly obvious that this black something is a black whole.. lol  It deals some damage to the ships currently in it's gravity well.

The abilities can be found next to the auto build button, or above the build titan button... Lower right corner of the screenshot.

Can you see what's so wrong with the picture? Can you?

The problem is these extraction bonuses does not take into consideration that the Dwarf planet can have no crystal asteroids. So this is just bad luck.

More problematic is finding NEGATIVE STUFF, really, why the hell should I find negative stuff on my worlds???? WHY?? They should be indicated right after colonization (or even before), not like the planetary corruption or frequent raiders that can be found by exploring the planet.

And then.. for the fortress world discovery you say,

that it only spawns in faraway neutral worlds?

Well.. I did manage to find one.

Fortress world is a bonus that can appear randomly, and this is the problem. It is not written to take into consideration the location of the planet. Once I found this one on the Ice planet next to my homeworld, and only connected to my terran.... Absolutely useless fortifications. Again this requires luck to have it at the right planet... But this is so random what planet will you chose to be your chokepoint..

And major problem with Stellar Phenomona as I explore the universe.. I truthfully have no idea what they're supposed to do. Some detailed info would be great and helpful.

The new objects added to the map all have their specialities as an ability, and there is a description there what do they do (like the stars). Just click on the Antimatter fountain and read the ability description, really, it should not be this hard..

So I had no choice but to restart a new game, there was simply too many of them and I have no idea what they do and I needed planets so it was easy to restart because it's at the moment is nothing but shiny blue sparkly fairies on black backdrop.

Yes, sometimes it is a problem, getting too much neutrals around you, and less PLANETS. It is just lame getting defeated by starting unfair things (like only getting asteroids and dwarfs around you while everyone else gets at least 2 real planets) or be forced to play without bonuses or artifacts.. (competitive version of random maps).

Grav wells with abilities (generally the uncolonisables and stars) show the abilities in the action grid. Simply mouse-over them as you would a ship's abilities, and you can see a description of what the ability does as well as some descriptive text about the object in question.

The first picture is a black hole (mouse over the first button in the action grid with the black hole picture). It causes 50 damage once every 7s (7.14d/s) to all non-strikecraft objects in the grav well, increase jump speed chargeup by 350% and once the buff files are fixed, decrease phase lane speed (away from the star) by 50%.

Because you see that blackhole map had like eight antimatter wellspring areas around my capital.
End of quote

Antimatter fountains increase antimatter regeneration by 150% and convert 25% of damage taken to antimatter.

Edit: Turchany got there first.

How do you know this? I guess from the files but it would be better to see this number in the game instead of that 50.. It is clear that it's not 50 dps, but I could not even guess how much damage is dealt.. I only saw the shields of my seekers going down slowly.

I'm not home at the moment to check, but doesn't the ability popup ingame for the blackhole itself contain that number?

It says 50 damage, but nowhere clarifies what it means. Clearly it is not 50 damage per second, as it would kill most ships before reaching the other end of the gravity well..

The entity file BuffStarBlackHoleTarget contains the information:

periodicAction

actionCountType "Infinite"

actionIntervalTime   Level:0 7.000000

...

buffInstantActionType "DoDamage"

instantActionTriggerType "AlwaysPerform"

damage   Level:0 50.000000

...

damageAffectType "AFFECTS_SHIELDS_AND_HULL"

damageType "PHYSICAL"

isDamageShared FALSE

End of quote

i.e. the Black Hole causes 50 damage at an interval of 7s repeatedly. You can see this by watching the shields carefully and counting the number of resource updates you get between two damage updates. If nothing else is happening, your resource amounts update once per second, so you should see the interval between damage events is about 7 updates.

I knew the solution was something similar and thanks for it, BUT is it only me who thinks having to check it in the game files is a bit.. strange and lame? We should definitely be able to see this information in the game, that 50 damage doesn't tell you much...

Heh. I concur with you. I sat there and counted seconds first before going to the entity file, simply because I couldn't believe the interval would be so peculiar (it's >3, prime and not a factor of 50). I am all for a better description, and perhaps an even better solution is to convert it to a constant 7.14 damage/s so there is no ambiguity.
