resizer help

Hello everyone, just wanting to know if someone out there could help me resize a mesh. My operating system will not support the resize tool available here. The model is the Constitution class from SOA2 and I'm putting into Armada 3 only problem is the model is about 15-20 % smaller than it should be in Armada 3. This is just a personal project so I won't be releasing it or trying to take credit for anything. Any help would be appreciated.

Not sure why you can't just play either SOA2 or Armada

The resizer tool is for Diplomacy/Trinity meshes. You can either make the mesh compatible to that or download the SOA2 diplomacy mod.

Actually the one I use seems to work just fine with rebellion meshes.  o_O

right, that was the 3DSmax importer script that needs trinity meshes.

Well I use XSI, took me 30 secs to rescale and convert  :-"

What operating system are you running?

I have windows 7 64 bit and there is a rebellion mesh resizer exe floating around that works fine on that.  I can't remember where I found it (if it was on here or not) but I can try sending you the version I have via dropbox link or something.

The guy's made a newer version that also accepts Rebellion meshes and also accepts both bin and text meshes.

@myfist Thank you! Will I have to modify the textures on this as well? When I built the ship in game the textures for the bridge, nacelles and outer ring of the saucer were messed up/missing. And I do play both mods as they we're released I just like tinkering with them to see what I can do. I'm trying to learn how to mod sins.

@makon86 I'm running windows 8 on 64 bit operating system. Every time I try to open the resizer, It keeps saying that mscomctl.ocx or one of it's dependency's is not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid. I tried to register it that didn't work and I downloaded a new mscomctl.ocx file that didn't work either.

you need to convert the mesh to text, look at the material sets at the top, and move all those textures with the model. Learn to use the DEV exe, if a texture was missing, the Dev will tell you.

I am using multiple material sets now for models. I rebuilt the nacelles for the Connie, and made them an object, and used that object for Miranda and  the Siege. I put the new textures on whatever empty space I caould find so they would look better but not use more RAM.

Good to know :)

We always encouraged people modding our work, for personal use, which is why I added the Convert folders to the mod. And thanks for posting here now, getting help from the community is much better than just me, if that was you that asked about the Connie in a modDB PM earlier. This is the place to be to learn to mod.

I remembering having that problem as well with a particular version of the resizer tool I was using.  I can't recall if the one I have currently requires 'registration' of that certain file or not.  I'll see what I have when I am back at my computer.

Thanks for the help everyone. I have another question. In a mesh file converted to text what are the Bounding radius and max/min bounding extents. Also what kind of modeling programs do you guys use?

Funny, I have basically the same question. I love SoA2 but I really want to re-size the Keldon class because visually it is very difficult for me to pick out amongst Galors. I don't care about being canon, I just want the thing like 25-30% bigger (or whatever size would make it very obviously a capital ship). I'm happy to up the costs/stats myself, I can modify entity files no problem.

Could someone walk me through how to do that and provide links to whatever files I might need? The only resizer links I found did not work on my computer even after following the instructions.

If that is too much work, I could live with a resized .mesh since apparently it takes about 20 seconds to do if you know how, though I'd love to know how to do it myself.

In any case, thanks a bunch in advance, I'm new to modding but SoA2 has been a big inspiration for me to learn!

The Keldon is an elite, it should be easy to spot in the fleet tree as elites are at the top of the group and Galors are frigates.

I always us XSI for resizing, but I have the model already in a XSI scene which I do not make public. To many people use models and don't credit who made them and use without permission.

I never did try the resize tool, so someone else will have to help you with that.

Always helps to know what resize tool you tried.

Well, I'm definitely not using it for purposes other than my own. I've got no desire to release a Star Trek mod as there are two perfectly good ones as it is.

Keldons are easy to spot visually on the fleet tree, I just enjoy watching the combat in Sins and want it to stand out more graphically from the Galors in that sense.

I've downloaded XSI but don't even know how to get a Sins mesh file to load into it. If you could direct me to some sort of tutorial that'd be great.

As far as the resizer, I just googled sins resizer and found a few, though I think they are the same file. They are all called resizer.exe. Heh. I'm supposed to put a file in my windows/system folder and run a setup through the command prompt, but it just tells me there is some sort of compatibility issue when I do so.

Sorry to be a pain, I'm looking through other posts and stuff as we speak, but a lot of it just mentions XSI but not really how to use it with Sins meshes. The search continues.
