Typically taking a photo of something, the Photo and its contents are yours to do with as you wish. As long as the subject matter is not protected by copyright and or prohibited in your local area...
IE: taking a Picture of your screen with one of the walls in our gallery on it and uploading it as a wallpaper created by you..This scenario would not allow for to the image being distributed, as you reproduced someones else work without permission.
Some places also restrict the use of cameras such as, movie theaters, Play's, some Government building's, etc. Again: copying someone else's works and or use of said buildings disallows for Photography. If the photos are taken in such places, they can not be redistributed..
Some places disallow the taking pictures/video of persons without permission.. It is best in these instances to know your local and state statutes on the subject..
Pictures of scenery, your backyard, the town hall from the outside (unless other wise posted), your local Pizza joint, ur dog Spot, that red spot on the back of your leg, etc..typically are acceptable to redistribute..... tho some of these may not make for a very good desktop wallpaper.....
In the case of the tin signs, I would have to add that company logo's are still copyrighted and may be subject to removal if there is a complaint , or if we know the specific company actively pursues use of it's logo..It may be rejected from the get go.
P.S.
If the Photo was taken contractually, IE: you were commissioned to take the photo then typically the copyrights would fall to the consumer, unless otherwise noted within the contract..
Cheers..
