Ally mission?

Hi all just got the game this week and already sinking hours into it, though I can't seem to colonize planets or build up my empire fast enough, and keep getting my behind handed to me on a silver platter.

But I have a question, I tried a medium system thing so I could have allies, and I just received a mission from my ally, it says "send envoy to a gravity well owned by this player to complete mission"

But what's an envoy?

Diplomatic ships. Research them in the diplomacy section of the tech tree.

Ok thanks! :)

And I also have another question, my ally, (who I hope is just an intelligent AI or I'm unknowingly playing online) keeps "whispering" that he needs help at one of his planets, how do I "whisper" back?

Press enter and then hit tab to cycle through different allies.

Ah ok, thanks,

And now I have a few more,

1.i keep getting defeated, even when I have all the ai's on easy, they somehow manage to do everything faster then me, how do I colonize planets as fast as them? They spend like five seconds destroying e neutrals around a planet, when I spend five MINUTES..

2.why do they always have to swarm millions of their ships around just one of my planets?

3. Why do they want me to send an envoy to one of their planets every five minutes?

That's just your AI ally communicating with you, you do not need to tell him anything back.

Are you building all of the ships you can as soon as the game starts. Typically I start with a colony cap, a colony frigate and as many light frigates as I can build. This gives you two task forces to colonize with, since the cap can defeat most planet militia all by itself.

Envoys are how you get your relations up with another player. You don't have to do missions, though high relations eventually allow you to get pacts, which can provide some useful benefits mid to late game.

If you're really having trouble, I'll plug my Open Tutorial map. It prevents the only enemy player from reaching you, and allowing you to build up at your own pace. There are some tough militia battles but they won't attack your planets. Only the pirates will be able to do that if you have them turned on.
