What's New to GalCiv3?

Hello people,

I just found out that GalCiv3 is coming out and i am really exited. GalCiv2 is my favorite 4x space game. I've been lurking and trying to find out what is new to this game compared to GalCiv2 but i can't seem to find a lot. Some of the info is a little vague and others just assume that you know what they are talking about so they do not really say what the new features are(The galciv3 game features page is not very detailed).

Soooo, What are the new changes that we will see for galciv3?

The biggest for me is 64 bit only so room for tremendous growth in expansion packs.

hmm lets see what i can come up with from the top of my head.

 

-vastly improved ship designer

-hexes

-combat expanded, things like range accuracy speed etc now factor in.

-multiplayer

-steam workshop (not 100% confirmed but makes alot of sense)

-it looks alot prettier

 

-political party system overhauled, not sure to what yet

-carrier ships added

-fleet mechanics added, i.e. escort ships at least. possibly formations etc.

-adjacency bonus minigame on planets added

-heard some rumors about a colony adjacency system coming too.

-rumor that espionage won't be in the initial release but not 100% on this

-tech tree now has specialization research and "tech ages"

-strategic resources added. not sure what is happening with galactic resources from galciv2.

-more terrain features added, like nebula and dust clouds. presumably more, the anouncement screenshot/art had a blackhole and a binary star.

-starports are now space based rather then planet based. 

-ideology system added

 

 

oh and the drengin ate all the torians.

Paul Boyer said so explicitly in this podcast, so I wouldn't call it a rumor.

I believe in one of the devstreams Paul was talking about the planet adjacency system and then at some point said something along the lines of "and when the colony adjacency system is in, things will go nuts". But i may have misheard of misinterpreted.

i also recall reading or hearing things that hinted at colony adjacency but never got a direct answer when i prodded about it
