SINS Rebellion suddenly crashing upon start

It runs if i execute the DEV.EXE, but fails if I start it from STEAM or the normal executable.  The most recent mini-dump is linked.

It worked last weekend and fails now.  I've tried both the normal current version and the back-level 1.80mods version. Same result.

No, altho I have tried running it under 1.80mods as well as 1.82.  But no actual mods.

Have you installed any Windows patches or VGA drivers in the meantime?  I have had a conflicting Windows hot-patch issue (input method related trouble) a few years back...  Just an idea...
