Well i broke down and bought it.

Ok i know i said i wasn't going to since the UI is so bad. But i ended up doing an impulse purchase. To be honest i kind of wish i wouldn't have bought it yet. Not that it's a bad game but just because it's only half the game. The UI is still something that bothers me but i think i've beat that poor horse enough and will leave it alone.

It feels a lot like it's predecessor and that's a good thing and a bad thing, i mean god knows there wasn't enough hours in the day to play that one so it's good in that sense but bad in the sense that we don't have so many features with GC3 yet that i might as well play GC2 (speak about dated UIs lol).

I think i'm going to play it very sparingly until a new patch comes out, i mean combat right now is just a minor explosion and i get these little notices that say "confirm combat" or something like that with only an "confirm" button and nothing else. I don't even know where that battle was or if i won or lost. Don't get me wrong i know this isn't going to stay this way. It's just that i think playing the game this early in beta and lacking this many features was a bad idea, it's going to instantly give a bad impression to people who aren't as open minded or understanding.

So to be clear, great start but a long way to go before we get everything thats needed.

Welcome to the club ;)

I cannot wait till combat fleshes out more and it becomes more of a game. If you enjoy designing ships you can always hang out in that section of the game, because they did state that ships you make should be viable for the final release (that is their intended goal, and if they don't do that, there may be a lot of sad bears)

Nothing wrong with buying a game because you can get it cheap (or a great deal aka Elite Founders Edition) in the beta and not playing it until the release. I've done that with this game. I've played a few rounds, even mentioned an issue or two. But overall, I really haven't played the game. So no worries.

Yes I agree I've played a few games and had some fun but it's far from feature complete yet so I doubt I'll play much more until the next patch.

I think it's the frame work of a great game at the moment but lots of things need fleshing out before it's a full game. Which is what I expect from an early beta.

It's a good start but it there is still along way to go which I believe they know, and I am looking forward to the next major patch.
