Vasari Hunters

I'm surprised that no one has made a mod based on a concept of what could be chasing the vasari.  Yes yes I know "but we dont know and if we try we may ruin it and piss everyone off", well to that I say it obviously isn't what is chasing them and it is just a possible representation to spice things up a bit without adding other entities into the sins galaxy.  Possible ideas is this

1.  Throw everyone's ideas ive seen into the mix, phase gate theory, nanite theory, make it a demonic essence that took control of nanites to grant them a physical appearance (make player portraits look like grievous or that new ultron or whatever) and they assimilate everything, machine/bio/what have you.

2.  Make their colonization unique, don't make them playable right off make them have to be defeated or something, as they take planets on the map the phase lanes go blank and you just see black where the planets used to be, a staple of this could be defending and probably losing as they attack your planets almost forcing alliances to repel them (possibly make a tech that makes ships able to phase jump to Nameless territory that lost planets and traditional phase lanes due to some special ability said nameless has)

3.  Make their ships a hybrid of everything, once they are playable make them learn new ship "schematics" due to devouring the Tec/advent fleets and new Vasari, make what comes out some nanite craziness (like say more alien like such as vorastra or warp the Kol into some demonic representation manifested through altered tech and nanites and corrupted unity).  I'd love to draw some concepts for kinds of ships like that BTW

4.  Make them immune to being seen by the unity or something since it is potentially corrupting them make any culture that goes into a Nameless territory disappear and I dunno have some more creative ideas on it.

5.  Gotta do something with phase inhibitors, like say if they assault a planet make them take control of it and use them to inhibit all none Nameless ship speed/construction speed/anything since it could be their tech.

6. "That makes them so OP, it'd break the game if you played against them/with them!". Well duh dummy thats why you add new techs to all other races, you could put an emphasis on adding more alliance options to band together against this threat (Vasari sharing nanite tech to help battle nanite, etc.) And do all kinds of stuff.

7.  Let the comment rage fest commence, but seriously if someone would do this I would deff go crazy on ship/structure/design of this kind of new race to substitute for a fake Vasari hunter until we find out what it really is.

I doubt the devs know either, so go ahead.

It wouldn't be much of a stretch to pretend that the Nephalim/Plague from Sins of the Fallen or the Replicators from the Maelstrom mod are the ones chasing the Vasari. Those two mods are the main ones that have added unique races that are not from major science fiction franchises.

Oh are they?  I just got your e4x and i got interregnum to work last night and played that for many an hour, maybe i'll try to do something along these lines, take me 17x longer than you more experienced guys but me think I could pull it off eventually (by the time the real hunters have come to have a face)

Glad you're enjoying it. While Interregnum joins those two mods as one of the few that adds new factions and keep the old ones (as opposed to Total Conversions which replace the Sins factions), as a Star Wars mod mine obviously draws from a very established universe. Sins of the Fallen and Maelstrom's races are their own creation, with only some vague inspiration from other things at most. Gameplay wise it's really irrelevant, but since you'd also be making up a faction for the "Vasari Hunters" they'd be the closest already existing factions.

Modding new factions is very time consuming. The first public build of Interregnum was released over a year ago (and I was working on it well before that), and I'm only now finishing the Rebel Alliance. So lets say that's one year to do one race and the two subfactions for it. And I didn't have to completely design and model ships from scratch. The great thing about Star Wars is that there's so much of it, I didn't have to make things up to fill the ship rosters.

Indeed I am, I also enjoyed the lore of interregnum it was quite interesting and melded together very well.  And yes it would probably take me even longer due to my terrible scheduling, maybe I'll attempt it and work on it from time to time, I can only imagine if it took you so long for interregnum.  I'm just looking for something that is really based on the Vasari Hunters and has specific techs and ships based on different elements of what we know or theories that have been thrown around already.

Thanks! I'm going to try and get the next lore chapter out soonish.

I don't know know a lot about the lore of Maelstrom or Sins of the Fallen, if there really is any, but I mentioned the Nephillim from SotF because they're supposed to be some sort of psuedo angelic race, possibly from a different dimension, that certainly wouldn't approve of how the Vasari ran their Empire. So that's probably the closest thing to my favorite Vasari theory, phase demons.

The Replicators from Maelstrom are basically sentient self replicating machines. I don't remember if they use nanobots or not, but either way they're the closest thing for the nanobot experiment gone mad theory.

Ah that's interesting, I'll have to check them out thanks for the info.
