If any of you know orbital mechanics or feel that Offworld Trading Company is in any way related, I think you will appreciate what SpaceX has achieved today.

Today, SpaceX launched its Falcon 9 2-stage rocket and brought the 1st stage back to land at cape canaveral. Before today no rocket that delivered its payload to orbit hass ever successfully retrieved its booster stage. What this means is that space travel that is 10-100x cheaper than it is right now is an ever faster approaching possibility. Space with Today's massively successfully achieved milestone is paving the way for the human race to reach out into and space and out to mars God knows maybe we can all go to Mars in our livetimes because of the awesome work of the people at SpaceX and NASA (and other space agencies, but SpaceX is paving the way for CHEAP space access).

Rocket launch is at about 32:32 (the serendipity isn't lost on me).

A few more milestones to achieve (by SpaceX and/or other companies or nations) that will make Mars colonization a reality:

recovery of the 2nd stage

Development of an engine capable of using extraterrestrially produced fuel (ie. LiquidMethane/LOX, or perhaps HydroLOX).

Extraterrestrial production of rocket fuel, food, other important related supplies.

I don't know where you're all at but I'm super psyched with today's massive SpaceX success!!
