Independence Day: Resurgence

Anyone saw it? I did yesterday..at last. It was more or less as expected - like all the recent movies of this kind. Cant really say better or worse than say Superman vs Batman...just i guess bit of more of my cup of tea cause of all the spaceships and shit.

Then again, the whole alien "harvesters of the worlds" theme already alluded in the first movie reminds me of Vasari so much - almost makes me want to play the game again (did not play it at all past few months, did not even buy the Outlaw sector DLC so far...) and go on rampage stripping planets left. right and centre.

Anyway, i just hope devs are watching this, cause this is how i envision my Vorastra (i beg you to bring it back in all its teleporting, fleet munching and dark fleet beacon spawning manta ray of death beauty) to strip worlds in Sins 2! Even more mobility and even more harvesting, stripping and sucking dry, please.

Thank you.

The sphere looked kind of Advent-ish too. It was even trying to get them to its planet and turn them to its side. And probably does in end.

It was brilliant cgi, and brain dead retard writing.  Queen dies, everyone falls out of the sky, queen dies before, everyone doesn't fall out of the sky.  Aliens comatose in the lab after their queen died, but other aliens fought for ten years instead.  The premise of the movie, kill the queen and take out the whole fleet, was absurdly poor.  It makes the new Star Wars look like good writing.  It was still fun though, so long as you can turn your brain off.

It flopped at the box office. Maybe their brains were turned off.

Cant they have different reactions to their queen dying?

I thought they *did* fall out of the sky (ships) also it might have been working differently as this time they came in only one multi-purpose ship instead of multiple single-purpose ones.

Why oh why did I bother with spoiler tags...

In the original, there is no "queen" identified.  There is a mothership coordinating them, and they spread a virus out that takes down the shields.  They then detonate the mothership.  The fighters are seen still zipping around, even after the city sized ship has been destroyed, at this point they're blowing up ships all over the world, but they're blowing them up, not watching them fall out of the sky inert.  The queen idea is retconned into the original without any evidence of it, then completely ignored for purposes of having people with experience fighting them in the ass end of nowhere.  There can't even have been a queen in the first place because the other alien stated no one had ever killed a queen.  It's as consistent as the newly gay scientist who showed no such indications of being involved with his coworker in the original.

As far as the ships being different goes, they did set it up as the fighters needing some sort of larger ship to be active.  The implication in the original is either that they were locked down somehow without one present, or actually powered remotely, but this would have meant they fell out of the sky when the last city ship was destroyed, since they didn't all crash when the mothership exploded.  In the second one, the newly droned aliens and their technology are tied to the queen itself, who controls the hijacked ships at will.

Edit, and the spoiler tags broke the thread, lol...

Need those spoilers that you have to click to expand...

Alien might have not known about other mothership that was destroyed.

BUt yes it might have not been a queen on that ship just control center or something. Explaining how it didnt do anything except make aliens turn into Easy AI and get taken down by humans when it was destroyed.

People can change. And guy that was in coma might have not been thinking straight (no pun intended) afterwards.

Outside of the US we had to put up with the concept of the-US-saves-the-world-once-more [in the first one].

What the US had to put up with was the corny idea that POTUS would hop into a plane himself and take them on....

Corny was the word for it.

Film makers need to realize that Joe Public now expects CGI-done-well and it's not going to be the wow-factor that draws crowds like it used to.

I'll go see it this weekend [probably]...but like you I'll be turning my brain off...;)

If ya haven't seen the movie yet, save your money.  By the way the Purge wasn't much better.
