DesktopX....Is it getting old?

Hi i have just been looking and looking though out all the new themes from DesktopX. What i found? nothing! Is DesktopX becoming unpopular? i mean all the new skins that i see are basiclly the same thing over and over but with different colors. The whole scheme is the same. I think we the users of DesktopX should start some designing program thing or something like that to come up with new ideas. Not the same old thing of just taking the task bar out and putting some fancy icons all over the place. Something new original. I personally think that the Windows.MSN 7.0 was a preatty good creation. Well post your ideas comments etc if you got anything to say.

No it's very nice program. I couldn't post some of my theme on here yet. But I've been making tight ass themes. I used Dragon Ball Z pictures and make it flashing, and I also inserted Chinese words and make them flash too. And I does some animations and got some objects from other themes and add them to my theme. LOoks very fancy.

Personally, I only use DesktopX for IconX. I'm trying to find another use for it, but it's hard to make it match with the skins that I use.

I didn't make themes for DesktopX, but I did find it to be resource heavy, too involved for a casual user like myself, and most themes were barely usable.

I don't get this at all. It looks like I fell in the trap by responding to this thread. DX themes look very different: They have different graphics, different colors, different compositions, use different plugins and different scripts. Some use a lot of memory, some don't.

If you feel that the themes are unusable then customize the themes to your own needs. It is not that difficult. Try it.

/me wonders what this thread is all about.

And you are of course free to create your own.

just wait a few minutes ladies and gentalmen. there should be a few themes coming your way.

as far as useful, what exactly would you want out of DX?

anyway I think DX is for people who want a totally different way to work the desktop and get at data, programs, and other such things quicker and nicer.

its not a shell replacement so if that is what you really want then go for litestep or aston. for me DX has those scripting potienial and other such activities to make it a whole new desktop.

I am working on something new. I recently uploaded an update of an old theme due to requests.

Some like to use DX as a free form pad for thier work and others prefer something more strict. If you don't like what is available, create your own.

I also think that the fact that DX is getting updated is one reason why DX section is up in the air right now.

Me personally, I am waiting to see what new features I will have to use.

Thanx for the replies. I hope DesktopX 2 is really cool. I posted the them i used to use (cant use it anymore because i bough a 17" LCD Monitor running a 1280 x 1204 and my theme was designed for a 1024 x 786. Take i look at it is actually two themes put together and some stuff modified by me. I love it but i cant use it anymore....

I was just saying i havent seen too many new themes around. Ive seen a lot of objects but not themes. There was a time when all these really cool themes where out.

That kind of stuff is what i am talking about MadIce. Thanx all i like the replies just wanted to see what you guys tough.

If you are an ODNT user then you can download the DX2 beta (1.96) using SDC or CM. If you are not then you are out of luck.

No. You were not talking about that. You told us that all the themes looked the same and were not creative. My opinion is that you were very rude by saying that. There are a lot of good and creative themes out there, old or new. You probably didn't check them out.
