Hello again my old friends and a WB4 question too!

For those old friends I haven't seen on IRC, a big warm hello to you! Doreen, Buzz, Migellito, Transmutate and all you other old skinners! Long time no see... Pop into IRC sometime and say howdy.

Okay, I have a real to life question. Since I've been out of the loop for a while, I am trying to update some old skins and learn the new requirements of XP skinning at the same time. Mark (Hippy) has been trying to help but has his own projects going on. Anywho, while trying to update Solace in Blue I have come across several problems.

#1 Even though I've created parts for the Task Panel, when I apply the skin they are still standard Windows stuff. Is there something that has to be set to make this active?

#2 Is there a way to set the user icon and name in a specific position?

#3 There are some alignment issues with the User Pane and this would require sending you my work in progress to see what I mean.

Thanks to anyone who helps!

BTW, I've been chatting with my old friends Hippy, PJPowel, MadIce, Snowman, Jafo, ValHalla, starone, Pas and prolly a couple of others for the last two weeks. Great to see those happy er, typings again (even though Mark bugs the shit out of me, PJ keeps kicking me from the channel, MadIce supports PJ which makes him no better, Jafo is the same pain in the ass he always was and Snowman just gives me a general hard time) from the people I used to know and love. Well, um, ok, maybe love was too strong. How about like... er, gee, perhaps "tolerated" is a better word. Ah what the hell, "put up with" about fits my feelings.

Course Kevin (Valhalla) is just the nice guy he always was and starone is a regular sweetheart!

There I said it and nobody can do anything about it (please don't delete my thread!)

I'm not sure if these are the "official" answers but this is what works for me:

#1 Save your images as 32 bit bmps. not 24 or 16...

#2 You can move the username clear off the userpanel if you want by adjusting the right content margin. For example, I set it to 600 for the themes I use so I dont see the name. I know who I am lol.
I'm think you're stuck with the userpic though. As far as I know the only way to get rid of it is to disable it in WB4 overrides.

#3 I'm sure I'll see you on IRC if you wanna email me. Or you could try registering and posting at WinSkins.net http://winskins.net

Can't really help you much....I stick to skinning the 'non-Explorer' bits, being a LS User.....and still am having 'issues' with progress bars that refuse to behave [but only for me on my comp....a 'person-specific' bug]...

#1... Check your Basic Settings in WindowBlinds Advanced Config..... make sure "Use Windows XP style explorer bars" is checked. (this is a shot in the dark, but you never know)
Can't really help with the other questions..........

btw.... who are you calling old?

Well, with some help from star and one of mormegils themes I solved the Task Panel problem.

I compared my UIS file to one created by mormegil line by line and then compared what SKS showed. I had to manually add the xp.stuff line to my UIS file AND manually add a filename under the XP Shell tab. For some reason SKS wasn't creating these entries but when I forced filenames into the skin it created the files and bang... task panels now work.

I also notice that there is nothing under XP Shell -> Logoff Dialog even though I've created new images for the logoff dialog. I assume I will have to force a name there as well.

Karmagirl... I look forward to being booted by you soon again.

Trooper.. thanks mucho for the info and maybe I'll send you my skin anyway if you would like to check it over for me.

Hey Koasati! I knew I forgot to say hello to some people.

It couldn't have been a WB setting because Paul's skin worked fine.

And if I know you from my first run through the skin industry, well...
