Remove my name from your e-mail list.

Since I am not allowed to d/l anything unless I purchase something from Stardock, I want this site to stop sending me spam.
I registered at this site at least a year ago. It's bad enough I have have to turn off my pop up killer to use the site, now you won't let me d/l any more.
Hey Stardock! Want me to by your progs?
Try putting out something that doesn't crash my pc 5 minutes after I load it up!
Chumps.
Anymore e-mail sent to me from wincustomize.com will be reported as spam to my isp.

Yeah, you have to know how to use these complicated programs or they will crash your computer.

I believe that Wincustomize does allow you to unsubscribe from their mailing list. There should be a link at the bottom of each e-mail if there is. Unlike spammers, I would think Wincustomize would not want to be sending e-mail against the recievers wishes.

This site won't be sending you 'spam'. It has no reason to.

What it does do is [if you accept] provide cookies to recognize your interaction with the site, eg. which pages you visited and whether a response may have been placed with a thread you have visited/read.

Totally inoccuous.

You 'may' be the recipient of 'solicited' email, such as notification of a rejected skin submission, or even  have opted into the periodical newsletter.

If you have not submitted works here, nor have opted for receipt of the newsletter then there is exactly no reason for Wincustomize to even acknowledge your existence.....'spam' or otherwise.

I'd suggest this 'spam' is actually something entirely different, such as a email virus infection of some kind where its 'header' is being 'altered' to appear to be from a 'trusted' source.

Currently there is one such doing the rounds.

Somehow this phrase disturbs me, as I detest tracking cookies.

But as Jafo said, there is a virus making the rounds and only because people are not heeding the warnings to stop it.

tracking cookies as in your web sites visited is one thing, keeping track of the threads you've read, posted to, created, pages loaded upon a given vist are something totally diffrent.

or would you rather have to reload everything from the server each time you click a intra-site link?

aymarat the link at the top of the website (as long as your logged in) called "Edit Account" has options to remove yourself from the monthly news letter and also to choose whether or not the site should display new windows as "pop up"

Q: why did you download at least 50 mb for a prog that does nothing but crash your pc?

My question is that also. I would think if it is crashing your computer then you would stop downloading stuff. Maybe she's talking about wallpapers?

There are plenty of places to get walls from if you can't get it from here

Just wanted to ask

you say you don't want to buy the progs, well what do you expect you expect wincustomize to give you everything... and you basically say leave me alone, you sound like a child crying out for attention. "Stay away from me", and if they do you come back to them, and bug them. If you hate stardock so much why don't you leave and never come back. The free beer is all out, so why stay at this party??? Go leech off of someone elses time. I am a paying customer and people that come in here claiming that the products I bought that work fine are buggy and such make me mad. This website which I have been a part of for sometime now you claim has sent you "Spam", well they don't do that. You claim that your pop up control program won't work at this site, well try another one, because the two that I use work fine. This is the only time I will aknowledge you around here, you won't hear anymore out of me(because I don't contribute to supporting unhealty dillusions), but understand that your claims are without any basis (or evidence) and are contrary to the average results of other customers.

Unsubscribe yourself in "edit your account" as has been noted. If you don't your spam report (IF your ISP even bothers to look at and investigate the spam reports it receives) will be regarded as a false report since you opted to receive the newsletter and could have easily opted out. Unsubscribing is as simple as a mouseclick. So who's the chump really?

/me looks over the back of bucben's monitor and squats down feverishly feeling for the key around can with cloths pin pinching nostrils closed " wants Spam? we've got Spam! "

Tune in next time and see if bucben get's Spammed, or will Iplural fail to find the key and instead have to *Can* bucben?

Today's show was sponsored by the Rocky and BullWinkle and Mr ED the wonderful talking Horse "ED let that video intern go, no I don't care if you are doing a new movie and want to get into caricature, we are still paying off that Boy Scou..." Ah yes, well ahem, that's all for today folks!

camera fades to black and disembodied voice carries over as the sounds fades away...

Ed, yes I know Mr Ed goes to Washington could be your big break, but interns are on your No/No list............
