Update to CursorFX 4

Hello.

I have a question: I have an old version of CursorFX Plus 2.16 (with key).
There got an update to CursorFX 4. With CursorFX 4 the key is invalid.
Do I have to buy extra?

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Yes, I do believe CursorFX is an upgrade version. So you will need to pay for this version. If you have active Object Desktop subscription, you will get it for free.

Thanks

That's how the software industry works, and always has.  That is, until many systems now are a Subscription process.  Eg, if you are an Architect you will likely NEED to subscribe to Autodesk's 'Revit' which is an annual subscription around $7500...;)

The key here is the difference between UPDATE and UPGRADE.

Updates are fixes and minor improvements to an existing version, where as Upgrades are major changes to a new version of the software.

Most software vendors provide free updates like from 4.1 to 4.2, but charge for upgrades like from 4.2 to 5.0 where the primary version number changes. Upgrades require a large investment of time for the software development team and the Upgrade fee helps recover some of those costs.

The move from Cursor FX 2.16 to 4.03 is not and update, but an upgrade which is why there is a charge.
