- Observed Life Form : The Spread
My observations have concluded on the growth of the species locally known as The Spread which originates from Dimension Khass, Galactic Cluster Slaxit. As requested I have witnessed the entire growth of this species from its genesis, using Crikanious's Model of Significant Event Recognition; to The Spreads final extinction as defined by X'tiac's Almanac of Biological Forms : Evolution.
The packets your currently integrating represent the real-time progression of The Spread during its age of Galactic Expansion. All data is attainted directly form a ZeroPoint Cube recently retrieved from The Curve which has absorbed the dimensional bubble known as Khass during the moments of its collapse. Filters have been put in place to focus the data so you may enjoy the real-time experience of this report without the need to install barrier guides of any kind.
As discussed we will skip right to the moment of The Spread's first Colony Launch and then proceed from there. As usual we are using basic sentience simulation of key individuals to host the information in a mind case to make things easier to relate to and understand. Due to a quirk derived from The Spread being a transitional galactic hivemind we are, again, in the enviable position of needing to simulate only a single mind to achieve a parallel for this entire species.
For the most part I will allow the Sentience Simulation to speak for itself and frame events. If it is called for I'll will of course step in to offer more detail when it is required or requested.
Sentience Simulation : The Spread

Preparations have been completed. Today marks a new growth. I've worked for an age to get to this point and it is with a weight that I consider entire generations of Spore may well be separated from me for such a unknown period of time. Not since the first growth have I ever been so fragmented. Much has been completed during the preparations. The launches has been successful, the shipyards constructed and the final scans of what surrounds me have been completed and analysed. Time weighs on me as I haven't much time to enact the many changes which will ensure the long term supply of Spore to support the formation of this new Web. A Galactic Web. One that will span me across the space between the stars themselves.
[DITE] - The first growth was the exploration of The Spreads Homeworld itself. This lead to the development of many separate Webs that were not finally unified for 123,456.79 years (local frame) after the first Spore chose to explore beyond the ancestral swamps.
My home has a good source of material in the form of a 6 Hex Asteroid Belt. I'll have to look for an early opportunity to develop Asteroid Mining to exploit it. The two local planets to me are planned as my first colonisation targets. Spore 1 is a dead planet but by propelling a large quantity of Web from myself to this planet I should be able to turn such lifeless worlds into fledgling planets ready for life and eventual terraforming.
It seems that I am in a favourable position in my Cluster. My research tells me that being on the edge of a Cluster would ensure a more defensible and stable growth point than being closer to the centre. It does appear that we are low in nearby resources, judging by the prolific yellow suns about me. This is unexpected and while it could mean I'll have good choices for Growth, I am worried about contact with possibly hostile Aliens and the unpredictability they could bring. Without resources to fuel technology and innovation I'll be open to exploitation by others.
With my new observational telescopes built far into space upon my shipyards I have found a potentially fantastic opportunity at Inness II. My Original plan was to Spore the dead world at home and then colonise both my home planets, but Inness II is by far the better choice. I'll send my planned Colony Ship to Inness II. The Spore on this ship were spawned for this task, but I'll need to call Spore from their chosen lives to fill a 2nd Colony Ship. This is sure to effect them negatively.
Also I can see that the Blue Star near me seems to be rich in Thulium, a material that if abundant will guide my choices of technical achievement. Probably the most intriguing close quarter object to me is a Precursor Relic, one that appears to contain information on biological growth. Growth is a taxing effort and anyway to lessen my burden and increase my growth is a first choice priority.
: Decisions :
- Spore the Dead Planet bringing it life.
- Send the existing Colony Ship to Inness II. Utilising the happier colonists for the most dutiful task away from me.
- Draft Spore to quickly construct a 2nd Colony Ship and send it to Spore 1.
While Spore 1 could be reached, (now called Acorn), Inness II will take an extra day before the draft colonists arrive. I also chose to send my one probe out in the same direction to see if there are any more supporting planets in this area. A level 35 Planet is unlikely to be alone as the forces needed to form it in the first place would surly protect the formation of other systems.
My one qualm here is that I am not sure it is worth developing a connected Web on Inness II. It is so close in the Galactic Cluster to my Source that it could restrict materials coming from The Growth to other planets that could be more efficiently used by me here. My original plan is to to only connect myself to other Webs in distant corners of the Cluster. Allowing a more even distribution of resources between worlds. For now Innes II is destined to just be a very good colony.
The Spawning has produced great candidate's for the coming tasks. To my joy Socotra Coin has chosen to apply for while he is not as famous as his sibling, his dedication to me and my Spread has manifested in a deep cultural connection with other Spore who also share the excitement of my great spread. This cultural boost from Coin and all who follow him will be greatly useful in controlling my Spore, who's very nature makes them so unpredictable due to their obsession for individuality. I expected to have to wait years before galvanising so many Spore to a single group task. As an added bonus greed has not shown its head among the Spore Candidates. I am able to use the funds available to retain the focus of all three Spore without the need to to wait for more funds to accumulate.
Assigning Coin as my Minister of Technology ensures that the Spores efforts at innovation will provide more choice and be achieved faster. Marcel will be a fine Minister of Colonization ensureing the needs of the Spore are met during this trying time. Though I will be looking for better suited ministers when I have the chance. I really wanted to assign at least one to The Nature League, a faction of Spore that promotes growth, as forming new Webs on as many worlds as possible is my one true desire, and this will require a spread beyond anything I have ever known.
I assigned Kel to the lonely task of captaining Pollen. A ship I designed to rain down spore upon the World Webs of the planets it stands sentry to. This constant fall of Spore should allow more Spawns to form in the Webs, increasing growth, as well as nourishing the planets ecosystem, providing sustenance and balance for the Web.
Coin's unexpected but welcome cultural galvanisation of the Spore upon me allowed enactment of the Sustainability Project sooner than planned. This project will ensure lower Pollution levels across my Spread. The benefits of which are to numerous to calculate, but not least of all is that the Spore will be much happier considering the awful blight that manufacturing causes. A necessary evil to cross stela-space lessened due to a single Spore and its convictions.
Coin's presented options for technical development is a hard decision. Space Elevators and Hyperwave Radio are particularly intriguing at this time. Still with the close Growth Precursor Artefact and the close Thumium deposits, I think early Star Bases is the correct choice.
Even with Coerced Colonization and medium taxes I am still only getting 26% of Spore feeling dissatisfied. I am sure this is Coin's doing. Nothing keeps Spore happy more than low pollution levels.
This view of myself is disorientating, but it dose allow me to consider the relationships between the structures that Spore seem to require. My first point of interest is to improve the lives of my Spore. Reintegration can be... resentful if they have not lead fulfilling and happy lives.
I believe I may gain a lot of resources during my spread as Webs form on other worlds feed me their resources, this includes the materials I require to do manufacturing. While it is temping to plan out huge project lines, I think for now I will keep it simple and make a small entertainment district, that will feed into a financial district latter on.
Finally I choose to construct another colony ship and then another set of probes. This should allow time for my 1st probe to travel and possibly find better targets for spread than Spore 1. With the creation of two ships per construction slot I should be able to quickly explore the cluster near to me and not loose any relative time in colonisation.
: Decisions :
- Send a Probe out past Innes II to scout for other close planets.
- Hire all three available Spore. One of which comes with a Culture Point.
- Spend 1 Culture Point in Compassion on Sustainability. Adding a -10% pollution to all planets.
- Assign Spore to Ministry of Technology and Colonisation.
- Assign Spore to speciality support ship Pollen.
- Set Pollen to sentry with its area effect covering Acorn and The Source Spore. Adding +30% Growth and +30% Food.
- Add "Forced Colonisation" as a civilisation perk. Adding +100% Growth at a cost of -5% Happiness.
- Start "Star Base" Research Project
- Que up a 2 more Probes and 2 more Colony Ships. As a "prolific" race each ship build slot produces 2 of each ship type instead of 1.
- Send my Survey ship to survey the closest Artefact.

Excuse the verbose nature of this initial imprint. Please take some time to make sure your connections are stable before continuing. The Bureau considers the formative actions of a race as it beings it movement into the stars to be of upmost importance. I will of course be reducing the resolution of the cube flow for future sensory induction, unless particularly interesting events unfold that require a similar detailed bandwidth.
Lets reconvene at the hour of scampering.
