Although IconPackager may work to some extent in Windows 11, it's not fully compatible with Windows 11 as stated on bottom of the product page: IconPackager

I have personally mentioned many times in many posts , how I dream that one day Stardock would rebuild IconPackager to make it more compatible with todays latest OS's.

I must be the exception again, i too was told Iconpackager was not compatible with Win11, I am not saying anyone else should ignore that advice, but i have used it since XP, and am having no problems using it. What i thought may have been an issue, turned out to be something else entirely. I actually uninstalled it due to the issue i had, but when i discovered what was the real problem put it back on my Win11 Enterprise, and it still doing it's job now. It should not work for me but does.

I have always used Iconpackager, yes it does not work for all icons applied from the package by default, but it is very easy to change the ones that do not skin , when you have applied a package, i usually go to the program file in c: drive Temp folder, then you can manually add whichever icon you wish to use for the folder or icon of choice. As each new package is applied, a copy of all icons in the package are individually listed there, i usually make a copy and add those icons to my collection for future mix ups. Yes it would be better for all icons, to skin as it's applied, but in an un perfect world, it is not too much for me to do the few i need or want done, manually.

I agree neone6, but we live in an imperfect world, a lot of things promise you one thing, then give you almost, or part of what you hoped for. True Iconpackager needs updating, but like other SD products, i have to work with what i have in front of me, then fill the blanks manually. I do what i need to do, to make things how i want.

I don't have Win11, but if you like you can try this:

Apply an icon package twice, in this order:

1. Right-click on the shortcut and "Run as Administrator".  Load the package. Exit Icon Packager.

2. Left-click normally on the shortcut. Load the package.  Exit.

I found that to work better on Standard (Non-Admin) Sign-ins on XP and Win10.

"Run as Admin" does of course also load the package to your Admin Sign-in.

I do hear you neone6, and i do understand you are working with outdated Tools. Sh*te does roll downhill, if Top Skinners like yourself are working with outdated tools, this effects all of us as we are the ones buying your stuff, if those tools do not work how you would like them, you can not give US your full Vision made real in any New WBs Using Skin Studio.

One other thing I should mention, since Icon Packager is not listed as compatible with Win11:

The previous version of Icon Packager was not compatible with Win10.  Some people were having luck running it on Win10.  Sometimes though, when people uninstalled that version of Icon Packager on Win10, it corrupted the links to the default Win10 icons and people were left without icon images.  I don't know whether or not it's and issue with Win11.

So, for now, I would be reluctant to uninstall Icon Packager from Win11.  I would instead apply the default icons through Icon Packager and leave it installed. (I don't actually know for sure that would work either.)"

In a earlier comment i did actually say i have previously uninstalled Iconpackager after what i thought was an issue, then re installed it. I do have an Icon backup software hiding on my drives which does make a backup of default icons prior to any changes made, it just creates a Reg file, if any member does have the issues you describe, i would be happy to dig it out. Although i would imagine it will only work before Iconpackager is uninstalled, but i do have it on one Drive or the other if anyone needs it.

Due to my condition, some words are hard coded into my Brain right or wrong and i will get them wrong 10 times out of ten neone6,  i usually rely on seeing something underlined in red, right now i have 27 support window tabs open, not trying to make excuses mate, just explaining.

I have a 30 TB collection mate of TV Shows, Movies, Programs, Music, Just about Every Windows Edition going back years. When i have moved on from something i am using, that i think may be of use later, i Archive it in that collection. When i am doing the daily stuff, my Hard Drive Docking Station is powered down, i only power it up once work is done, then i move stuff off my desktop to the correct place in that collection. My work station is like a Cockpit of a Fighter Jet, with equipment in front of me and both sides of me, Very Bespoke, but switching on the Dock requires swinging my Monitor on it's Multi Directional Arm and unplugging myself out, so i can reach forward and power it up, Yes a small fault in such a bespoke system, something i will now put right, making all my Big Boyz Toys at my fingertips, the wife is already shaking her head.
