DesktopX themes killing my browser

I downloaded a theme for DX, when I opened browser the left side was cut-off. Tried re-launching and ended up unloading theme,then browser was still being cut off on left. All seemed better a reboot. I then downloaded another DXtheme, this time it cut off the top of the browser window, same scenario as before,wouldn't work until a reboot. I've read through most of the threeads and didn't find my prob. I've used themes that came w/DX adn no probs. The prob was the same if I used Mozilla of IE6 [ I was hoping it would just be an incompatibility issue] I use WinXP w/latest versions of all OD software. ANy help appreciated, there are some great themes out there, I'd hate not to be able to use more of them. Thanks

No, Windowblinds should be able to run alongside with no problems, I always use them together.

Um can you elaborate more? If you, say, maximize the browser does it do that right? Whats your resolution?

My resolution is 1024x768. The browder opened as maximized,but with left third missing in 1st case and topcouple inches missing in2nd case. Maximizing didnothing in 1st,in 2nd there was no browser bar to click on. The only way to close was to right click the button in the taskbar at bottom of screen. I wanted to run this past our IT expert at work today but he's swamped with "real" work, go figure. Thanks for your reply, any ideas?

tjesterb: could you e-mail me and tell me the name of the theme that did this to your system, because I downloaded one just the other day and it did the same thing to my system. If it is the same theme, I will contact the author and let him know about it. Please don't discuss it here, it wouldn't be fair to the author, especially if it isn't the same theme. my e-mail: [email protected]

Ugh that's gotta be -really- annoying

I can't think of anything to try. Thought about an IE repair but that doesnt explain Mozilla. Sorry couldnt help.

Have you checked the work area settings in the DX configuration dialogue for the theme? I've had a a few themes with some odd settings in there. This is especially true for themes which were made for a higher resolution than my computer was set at, or had been converted from a higher resolution.

You can check the settings by switching to edit mode, then right click on the tray icon, and click on Configure Desktop X, then click on the Work Area button.

I also had one theme where Icon X was active in the theme, and the work area settings in there were really odd, resulting in windows from a lot of programs having odd results.

Just a suggestion... hope you find out, and then contact the author by e-mail if it turns out to be theme specific, as BoXXi suggested ')

Shameless nailed it. I went back and re-downloaded the themes in question and checked the settings and they each had settings limiting the size of the desktop in the direction they were cutting off the browser. BoXXi, I e-mailed the names of the themes and authors, as I said I already posted a comment on the one theme, guess I should give him a follow up comment. Thanks also to stockholm syndrome for the replies. Hope this exchange helps someone else who hits the same problem.
