ObjectBar Questions

(1) Right click on the right start panel and choose properties to go to Theme Editor. Right click the "My Documents" ((Under "My Stuff")and choose Duplicate. Rename the duplicate "Recent Docs", click on the Behavior tab and choose "Recent" on the pull down menu. Save and apply.

(2)Not sure what you mean by the XP Layout, but if you go to your ObjectBar directory and drill down to the WindowsXP folder and click on "Use Windowblinds Skin", it will import your current Windowblinds theme and you will have the XP StartMenu. If you mean creating from scratch, you can use SkinStudio to do it.

Thanks a lot for the rec docs issue.

By WinXP Layout, I mean the way people get it so that those four bars all pop up at once, and all in the correct layout. The way they get it to have the header (with the username), two main columns (containting normal start bar stuff), and the footer (containing system commands).

If someone could please help me, I'd be much obliged.

Oh. Do you have the "Classic" start menu turned on in Start Menu properties?

Actually, I dunno what you mean. Although, I think I ought to point out that I'm runnin MS Windows 98SE...So I still can't figure it out

you should see something called "Windows XP", pick that.

I have always wondered why Stardock doesn't put a shortcut to "Use Windowblinds Skin" on the Objectbar start menu. It isn't easy for newbies to find.

are you trying to use an existing OB theme with this layout?
or are you trying to create a NEW OB theme with this layout?
or are you trying to do something else?

I''m trying to create a whole new OB theme to use that layout. I want it to go with my Desktop Hide https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.asp?library=4&SkinID=354 theme, probably as a sub-theme.

have you successfully loaded one of the existing themes with this layout? if not, then you need to do this first.

once you have done this, look at it in theme manager. there are 4 bars that together make up the XP style start menu.

once you have the 4 bars all linked to the start button, then all you have to do is position them correctly relative to each other.

you need to try and be more clear / precise in your questions so that people know what you are really asking, and at what level to pitch the answer.

if you have already created your own OB theme then switching themes and finding an example of how to do this shouldn''t be a problem. if the problem is understanding how a given example works, then it would help to list the example you are looking at, so we are all talking about the same thing.

Dangitall... All a body has to do is think and actually read the descriptions for all the commands, etc. and it becomes a piece a cake.
