LogonStudio doubles my boot time

People are reporting strange problems since the SP2 update.

I dont have the SP2 update, nor do I plan to "update".

Well thanks for providing information about your system. It would help to know such things if you are seeking help. But, if you are just complaining... oh well.

I don't know what programs you are running or files that you may have modified that may have caused a problem with LogonStudio for you. I don't even know what OS system you are using. I don't even how many programs you are loading at startup. System specs aren't even given. With this lack of information, all I can really say is that it runs great for me. But, I will try to help you anyway. One thing to try is obviously to uninstall the program once you reset your default Logon. Then, reboot, remove the directory and reinstall. Another idea is to look at your msconfig and see if you have multiple instances of LogonStudio in your startup files(you only need one). At the run prompt type msconfig and go to the startup tab. This could cause such a problem. The only startup reference on my system is located in HKLM in my registry. You may even try to uncheck the one instance if you have only one. You will only lose the ability to have random startup screens but the program will still work when you manually change the logons. It may start faster for you this way. Good Luck.

Eeeasy there Chas, it's OK, really. I was just kind of wondering if anyone else had this little bug. However, I did check msconfig, nothing out of the ordinary or double entries. Just that annoying Quicktime thing that you can never get rid of.

I know, I hate that thing. It went away for awhile when I kept removing it. But, I went to a website that called for Quicktime and it came back. Try unchecking that one entry for LogonStudio. The program will still work. That way, it is using no memory, since nothing for LogonStudio is loading. If that doesn't work, try uninstalling the program. Then, see if your startup speed comes back. Also, if you used any other logon programs that modified the logonui.exe or logonuix.exe in your system32 folder, maybe that caused the problem. LogonSutdio doesn't modify or hack any system files like other Logon programs will do. The original logonui.exe and logonuix.exe are located in your SP1 folder(Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386). Check the version of those two files with the ones in your system32 folder. They should be identical. Maybe, you should copy the originals back to your system32 folder. Only if you are not still using any other Logon Programs. Just a bunch of things to try.
