(You may be thinking what? No poem! Evil!!!...Well, I can assure you that more poems will come, eventually. I had a recent burst, but now it's time for more writing pieces.)
I have a theory that boredom cause hostility. If you think about all of the political correctness that we are supposed to use in order not to offend anyone then you must eventually come across the thought that, "Hey, do these people have anything better to do than to bitch about what people say?" I've thought about this many times. The atheist thing about "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance, racial conflicts, feminist conflicts, and all the recent gay stuff. I mean some of these things the aforementioned groups are fighting for are technical terms for what they are....much like if a waiter wanted to be known as a "Food Distribution and Customer Service Technical Engineer" or a flight attendant as a "Aerial Comfort and Basic Necessity Manager"....fancy titles, sure, but the old words do just fine.
Now I'm not promoting the use of derogatory phrases and active violence toward other people, but when you fight for the changing of a few words in the Pledge of Allegiance or if someone says a word that might pertain to something you know or believe in. You think a normal person would say, "Hey, shut the f*ck up" to that person or perhaps, "Could you please not say that?". In the case of the Pledge you neglect to utter that part....it's not all that hard, but for some reason someone gets so pissed that they have to start up a court case to try and sue and/or change whatever it was. Do they have nothing better to do? No work, family, hobbies? Just out there to be annoying and make everyone's life a living hell? That's why I say to all the people that let what people say get to them become the soul focus of their life to get a freaking hobby. There's no reason to waste your time and the court's time fighting about words.
Words aren't supposed to hurt, physical abuse hurts. Words convey what we think and explain what we do...they themselves can never hurt you. Somehow in this society people have somehow become so obsessed with what others say or what they read that somehow they can become so enraged or saddened by words, just words...I can understand the emotion behind it if uttered in an angry and/or condescending way.....but the words can't hurt you if you don't let them.
Well...that turned into more of a rant....and a different tangent....oh well....
