What OS you running?

That seems to be the right build btw.

Let's see what happens if you install SDC new:

http://mi.stardock.com/private/sdc121_remove.exe

This won't mess up your existing installs.

Observation: all the SDC problem logs appear to be NVidia cards..... (me too!)

Thats strange, didn't say it before but me too. Maybe it is a Nividia compatibility issue.

OK - I stripped out both galciv AND sdc and reinstalled - seemed to work that way.

Alex

How did you strip out SDC without loosing all you setting and knowing what you have installed? ( I also have Object Desktop).

Hi there,

The are currently 2 problems with GalCiv and trying to install it through SDC. To install the game normally (not archiving it) go into the SDC settings and untick the option to "Prompt to enter an installation directory" under the Installation heading. This option is what is causing SDC to crash. Select OK and go ahead and install the game as normally and everything should now be fine. The second problem is the archiving option, do not use this option at all as the archving name currently uses a character that cannot be used within filenames, thus the operation fails.

Hope this helps,
Brian

This does seem to work. Downloading the files now.

Something that might assist you in tracking the problem down is the fact that with the 'Prompt' on, when I click 'Install' the program tried to access my floppy drive. This wouldn't normally be a problem, except that my FD letter is E: on my system. :)

It worked for me finally. At the last second when creating shortcuts it crashed and so Stardock Central dosen't think it's installed but after looking on my hard drive it seems to all be there.

Yay! I had previously already downloaded the stuff to see if that would help but I still got the crash.
Removing the 'prompt for install directory' as suggested here does help! It installed directly from the downloaded archive now.
Unfortunately I couldn't tell it where to install it to so I have no idea where it went ;)

AARGH Yuck! It has been put into "C:\Program Files\Stardock\Drengin.net\AltarianProphecy"
I HATE it when that happens. I never put my games on C:.
I guess I will uninstall it nog until I can install is somewhere different.

This may or may not help but:

I noticed that if the download on stardock central gets interuppted it then tries to install the game (even with a partial download). It fails obvously, but once it it fails i can then tell stardock central to install again and stardock will continue to download from the point it failed at.
I had three failed download install attempts on the new beta but once i got the complete download it install perfectly and every thing is working.

I've moved my installation to a desired position and updated the registry entry for stardock accordingly. It all seems to be in order now.
