Spacesharks and the minors

Am just newbie, but each time i play,
1. either the minors become too powerful, even more powerful than the AIs.

2. In other games, it seems like the spacesharks control the galaxies, how can this be? The shark just keep eating all my ships and the AIs too...

How can these 2 scenarios be prevented??

the minors will become powerful if they are given time to expand. answer to that is to colonize as quickly as poss, thus denying tham any extra stars.

there are a couple of solutions for the spacesharks.
1 is to lead them into the arms of the other major ai's (keep a couple of steps ahead of the shark and lead it to them). or
2 hit them hard and hit them fast (dont try this until you have at least the batleship or even better a couple of death knights)

If the minors get very powerful, then treat them like majors who can't win and try to make them your pal. Bribe, gift, trade, bow, kneel, grovel, etc. LOL.

If you do this until you become the big enchilada, then you can dominate them. Good luck. :)

Also avoid the auto exploration using your "Hero" spaceship, if you see those spiky and green asteroids things run away like crazy from them, the sharks are inside.
