no sound

I can't get any sound on my new T40 laptop, yet the game runs fine on my dell :(

Is here any issues for SoundMax audio?

Well, it always seems to be a soundmax card that people have this problem, but not all SoundMax cards have the problem.

1) Make sure that you have the latest drivers for your sound card, and the latest version of DirectX.

2) If you're running Gal Civ from the flash menu, make a short cut that points directly at the Gal Civ exe.  Flash opens up a sound channel that it doesn't close before Gal Civ starts, which is known to cause problems.

3) http://www.stardock.com/files/ms_mp3codec.exe This link will restore your system codecs to the windows versions.  Some programs overwrite these codecs with their own buggy versions. Running this exe should not adversely affect the operation of any of your programs.

4) Run dxdiag and make sure that there are no errors reported for DirectSound.
