Need help with windows system font please.

My husband bought this computer and everything that uses text on it uses the font of Tahoma. And it's a nice crisp font that I like. Now when I say everything uses this font I mean EVERYTHING uses this font. When he installed ICQ and MSN Messenger they both used the Tahoma font without him having to tell the to. When he browses the internet his browser windows use Tahoma. When he clicks on File at the top of his browser window and the pulldown window comes down the text in THAT window is Tahoma. I mean EVERYTHING uses Tahoma. I want MY computer to do that. Now I've tried goin' into the Registry and changing a value so it loads Tahoma but that doesn't seem to help much. Tried goin' into Advanced settings of Appearance when you right click the desktop and changing all the values to Tahoma but that didn't help. I even tried installing my husband's Tahoma font off of his computer onto mine to update it to the version he is using, no dice. So, I notice on some of the screenshots that I see if people's desktop on here that you have the same thing. CAN ANYONE HELP ME?!?!?!?! I also have some screenshots that I didnt include if it will help.

are none of the fonts changing to tahoma? or only part of them? dont forget also to change the font settings under internet explorer settings also under internet options

Well here is an idea not for the faint of heart whatever that means:
edit the default .msstyle with a tool like skin studio professional, which has a search and replace function, where u can search on FONTS and see all being used. Then change them all to Tahoma. warning: personally i have done this with other styles created by folks here (i liked some aspects of the style, but not the font ie. dungeon) but i noticed that some of the font changes do not take effect until after a reboot or two. Anyway, once the style is edited u can load your new style with a tool like windowblinds. It's a lotta fun!
