Do you have sdmcp enabled?

What is that and how do I enable it?

Thank you for your reply.

SDMCP is the 'hook' into your operatign system that lets the system tray work.

Open SDC, Tools | Settings | General.
Fifth button down. "Enable MCP SmartStartup"

See if that helps.

Did you reboot?

MCP notification support (right up the smart startup) - do you have that checked?

I'm downloading Destruction now. On real rural dialup.

I'm showing the systray using Destruction.

I didn't get an arrow to cycle through the icons until i went to builder mode and opened properties on the sytray. started changing the distance between task size and the arrows showed up. The fixed size option didn't have a check in it (even though it was clearly at fixed size, but when i applied after changing the distance betw icons then the check showed up.

yeah, I know this doesn't help. When running DTX did you get any script warnings? Do you have an antivirus that blocks scripts, possibly set to silent mode?

Do you have sdmcp.exe and mcpcore.dll in c:\program files\common files\stardock?

If not, look in Stardock Central->Settings->Advanced->Directories for where your downloads are stored. Find that folder and see if the above files are in the 'SDCommon' folder under there.

If so copy them to the 'common files' folder above. Reboot.

Does that help?

Chris done what you asked and still no joy. I have to say though that sdmcp.exe was in my Prefetch folder only.

I don't think this is going to work for me at all is it?

Sir Bichur, no I did not get any error messages and my AV hasn't blocked it either.

Do you have Client, Standard or Pro DTX?

What files do you have in: c:\program files\common files\stardock?

Have you cleared the cache as per Corky_O's tutorials?

The only other thing I can suggest is a complete uninstall (from SDC - then also check using 'Set program access & defaults' to see that there's no other copies lurking eg demo versions). Then reboot, & reinstall (from within SDC).
