msladydeath: I'm glad that there are others out there like me. I think it's not only immature of the parent, but it's also lazy or shows lack of patience. The only reason, it seems to me, that they let the kid keep the binky is that the kid would probably have a screaming fit if they took it away. They just don't wnat to deal with the hassle. Thank you, too.

Considering you basically just described the people who put together both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution/Bill of Rights, I don't see what the problem really is. I was thinking the same thing, HIH. I, for one, don't have a problem with wealth being a factor in politics. Ever he

My son's never been to a school that didn't do Christmas. Around here, and back home in WV, they have "Winter Festivals" in place of the old class Chrismas parties. Just out of curiosity, what's the point of celebrating "Christ"mas if you don't include....."Christ"?

Hey, isnt that a PAGAN tradition? Whatever happened to seperation of church and state (school)???? It's okeley-dokeley to discuss religion in school, just as long as you don't mention God, the Bible, Jesus or Christianity in general. Wicca, paganism, Vampirism.....that's all okay. Cool huh? <br

If there's one thing that alarms me more than seeing little kids running wild, unattended or unable to be controlled by the parents, it is children over two years old still using a binky. The other day, I was in line at the grocery store, and there was a woman ahead of me, conversing openly with her daughter, seated in the basket's kiddie seat, legs dangling almost to her mother's knees. The child

I was at work. The boss came in from wherever he'd been and asked us if we were ready to go to war. We asked him what he meant, and he told us he'd heard on the radio about the planes. From there, we rolled from one rumor to the next.....Pittsburgh, PA was being evacuated.....planes were falling on all the major cities....the death toll in the Towers was expected to hit 50,000 or more....lots of weird stuff. The manager sent me h

OR...maybe the docs could have tried to call the CDC, but were stopped by sinister sheriff-guy, who didn't want the feds causing ripples in his little pond? Could have been an interesting wrinkle.

I agree, TXW.....I had to laugh at some of the stuff, though. Like, for example, near the end when they took the guy to the hospital; the minute he told his story, they would've been on the horn to the CDC in Atlanta, who would've quarantined all those hillbilly weirdos before they could say "I fucked my sister". Instead, the doctors told the sinister sheriff-guy, who "took care of it" by dumping him in the river. Okay, then......very realist

Hey, folks......the holidays are fast approaching, and as well all know, we'll soon be seeing the red kettles and hearing bells on every corner and outside every store. While the Salvation Army is always a great charity to give your spare change to, I'd like to promote another: Toys for Tots. Every kid deserves something from Santa at Christmas. The US Marine Corps, and many retail stor

Actually, if you use a little imagination and aren't heavy handed, you can get a somewhat decent result. I'll show you what I mean tomorrow...my kids and I are being zombies (I won an award 2 years ago for my self-zombification with one of those kits). I'll bookmark this and come back and post pics of how we all turne

I was at Wal-mart today, sulkily following behind my wife on one of her quests to find the Holy Sale. As we made our way around the store, I noted a display of Halloween makeup on the main aisle. As I looked through the packs of various types of makeup (Frankenstein monster, vampire, zombie, witch, rock star...etc), I further noted that on each package was a picture of a made-up model, showing what the makeup would look like when you finished

Instead of assimilating themselves into our culture, they have demanded that WE accomodate theirs. Precisely! I've been saying that for years. Personally, if I were to move to another country where English wasn't the native language, I would feel it an imposition if I forced them to speak my la

What is funny is the 'English Only' movement because like ya know what like ya know version of English like ya know they have in might have in mind to be spoken, like ya know what I am talking about? Yeah, that pisses me off, too.

As I've related before, I work with the public. I manage a restaurant in the evenings, but in the mornings, two or three days a week, I work at a dollar store. I had an Hispanic gentleman come up to my register today. He plunked down his three items. I said "Hi..how you doin'?" Nothing. Not even eye contact. I rang him up, gave him his total, took his money (which he counted quite well for himself, thank you), and handed him his bag. "Have a

Thanks for all the input. I think it's such a shame when people try to ruin the fun of others just because they don't think they should be doing whatever they're doing. If some people want to be idiots and go out in the middle of BFE on a cold night and worship satan, then that's on them; I'll stay warm at home and pass out candy or go to a party at someone's house. The hell with satan (so to speak). As with many things in life, Halloween

I personally don't celebrate Halloween, and not just because of the reasons that you mentioned, but I don't care if others do it. It's your choice if you allow your kids to participate in that stuff. Good for you. I appreciate that. The Easter Bunny, I have no clue where that came from, but Santa i
