Yeah, that is the ideal target market, and they will buy them both. But the people not yet "sold" on TBS games are not likely to get both. They'll get one. And CivV is currently the louder, as it's an established IP, and CivII caused an entire generation of students' GPAs at MIT to drop by half a point. But this time, you have an edge. Galactic Civilizations 2 came out months after Civ IV, but Elemental is slanted to be released months before CivV.

I favor the Egg, then the Antorak. Hit and run rape is the best kind of rape. Especially when he comes in with fast ships to counter, and is surprised that your slower ships outran his.

Hold Shift for 1k increments. Can't remember if there are any other increments... Again, my ratio suggestion would take care of the "beating me to the punch" issue nicely :)

Anyone play Conquest: Frontier Wars? Ships in that game were huge, often came in fleets of 30-40, turned slow, but could still turn nicely, without ramming into huge sector-ranged ion cannons.

How about a new pirate launching mechanic. Right now, unless you manage to get the pirates to attack, you just wasted a ton of money. I dislike the all-or-nothing approach. So I thought of a dispersal pattern. Say you have three players with bounties of 1000, 750 and 250. When the pirate wave is spawned, it is divided into three groups on a 1000:750:250 ratio, so everyone gets a piece of the cake. This way, i you place a bounty on someone, you get your pirates to attack them, no

The problem is with the 4000 hit points they get. Kodiaks with capital-level health and shields baby yeah!

That's a tier difference. Look, I'm not inventing any sliced bread here, it's been a simple rule of war for over three thousand years. Two equal forces meet on the field. Statistically, the force that gets to do what it was trained and equipped for will be much more effective than a force who tries to shift it's tactics to counter the enemy.
if you want to make that easier, don't take a favor item (BotF) until after 3 mins, so you look like the noob
This is what I do, and it worked out great so far.

IMO, people who say "UB/LE aren't invincible" are either terrible at the game and don't understand that just because something can be killed doesn't make it balanced, or play UB/LE and don't want a nerfbat to the groin.

No, I don't have issues with vent, I use it myself. I have an issue with the first half of this post. Knowing that such a person then switched to vent is enough information to conclude that he is using it to stomp non-vent pugs, as it fits into his previous jerkdom. Statistically.
