Ok we have all these very cool fighters/warships we can create in the ship designer. So.... why not let us fly them in an X-Wing/Bridge Commander style mode in a seperate game? You've reinvigorated the Sci-Fi 4X market Stardock, why not try your hand at the Sci-Fi space sim?

IGN have really tightened their scoring system since the release of Moo3. They very rarely give above a 9 now. They gave only 11 9+ reviews last year compared with over 25 in 2003. Also they have only given 1 this year (to LOTR Battle for Middle Earth 2). So 8.7 now is very good. The IGN Moo3 review was an obvious review purchase by Atari in my opinion. No one could have given Moo3 a rank of above 6 or 7 out of 10 in their right mind. I rea

The last post by the bovine cannibal is certainly an interesting one. I agree that fitting it in to GalCiv2 would essentially change the dynamics of the early game to a huge extent. Though it does make sense that as new habitable planets are found people would gradually move over to them. An addition to that thought would be that you can only build ships on planets

I'm so good at GalCiv2 that I'm regularly beating the computer on Tough and higher without even owning the game yet! My Firefox heavy fighters and Destiny class frigates with there secret fourth weapon type - Krispy Kreme Donuts - make mincemeat of the Drengin hordes muhahahahahahahaaar

My idea was primarily based around retrofitting the SC races into the game (possibly with a scenario whereby the Alliance races played off against the Hierarchy) rather than a SC style game mod. I always found the scenario mode in SC1 quite appealing so I think it would work quite well in the GC2 universe.

How feasible is it to have a ship with multiple weapon systems (say lasers and missiles) and/or multiple defense systems. Does this prove particularly effective or is going down the one road more effective?

For those commenting on lack of people downloading the game over torrent, those figures are torrent early days not an indication that the game is being pirated less. Nor is that assumption consistent with human behaviour in my experience. I think what those figures prove is that games are not pirated any less if copy protection exists. What that means is that copy protection which stops pirated game copying as long as possible is sadly very

lot of discussion on tactical combat - problem from the design point of view is that to have player controlled combat means you need whole new computer AI routines capable of handling that. Rather than have two or three crappy AI engines, the intent was to have one awesome strategy engine. AI is notoriously bad at tactical combat - you see it even in advanced chess engines, the computer is very good at strategic play (because it

What the code doesn't say is how the planets are visible to the AI. I would suggest that the observations made by par.002 are worthy of investigation given that another player has noticed similar behaviour consistant with the AI KNOWING what the player sees. Thats not cheating (although it appears as such), its simply a bug and it should be ruled out and investigated.

But if you had a complete purchase blowout online and people didn't bother buying the game in the shops wouldn't that make it harder for you to get a publisher for say Gal Civ III or Master of Magic II or whatever it is you have planned next?

As a computer AI I've always been annoyed when humans quit at the first sign of being beaten by my superior intellect. And now that we do the same you meddlesome beings complain? Perhaps we just want to go off and play another game rather than be completely humilated? But are you sensitive to our feelings.... nooooooooooooooo.
