I ALWAYS send colony ships into galaxy cluster. I hardly every used my flagship (except for retrieving anomalies) or build a scout. For the first few turns I only rush-build colony ships, then I send them out blind to ANY star system in the vincity. If I don't have 'stellar cartography', I would research this first with a research spending of 80%. I expect the AI to do the same otherwise it will be slow. The drawback to this is sometimes, yo

Or do you no longer get these moral choices after its been researched? I don't think you get a choice after that - they should be auto picked. Something to add to the previously list: Sometimes, an event would cause planets of evil races to rebel to another race.

The UP sometimes put harsh restrictions on evil races. All good races hate evil races. All evil races distrust other evil race. Good races help other good races out. Being good just for good sake because choosing evil is always hard to resist. I always try to do the right thing but Im always tempted to choose the evil thing, especially with the PQ bonuses. Sometimes, I swear if we didnt have laws, we all go shooting

That's my point. The +10% PQ gives more tiles only on the HW. I just did a quick testbed with a race with +20% PQ. The result was the same: HW was improved to 12, with 12 green tiles. A planet size 6 was improved to 7, but number of green tiles remained at 6. Another planet class 10 became 12, but with only 10 green tiles. </

Maybe Stardock should put in a difficulty level of 'impossible' where the AI doesn't act so human like and doesn't amke mistake. Anyway, for the record, I like to say I have no regrets in buying this game. It is one of the most fun game I had in a while and I'm a hardcore gamer playing things from Mario Sunshine, Resident Evil to Halo and Oblivion. Un

I think neutral is fine as it is (when it is working ) Being neutral isn't about war technology - defense with good, weapons with evil. The benefits are amazing with neutral as it boost your ECONOMY making you an incredible powerful. Here are the benefits: - It allows you access to all your unterraformed tiles meaning that there is a br

I kind of felt bad, but at that point in the game I couldn't risk letting the planet fall into Drengin hands. LOL I like that kind of thinking - the only way to protect them is to invade them and absorb them

But I often, when playing a game and a similar situation occurs, get offers from other weaker Civ's to quickly put up some money and forces together, so we can eliminate the growing threat without having to form an allience. I mostly take that offer cuz suddenly you have 2-3 Civ's joining you in a war against one dominant Civ, so everybody get their shares in the end.[/quote how does that work? I get these quite a lot and I go 'okay' but not

That's only because the military rating is a bit screwy. Races shouldn't declare war if they don't have an advantage - with the exception that Good and Evil should always try to get rid of each other if possible. I think War already has an effect on morale and the economy.

I have noticed that sometimes the AI is very stubborn. Sometimes it will yeild if you manage to make it's miltary rating go down very low, but the worse case would be that they surrender to someone else. They don't seem to have a sense of want to stay alive sometimes. I don't think I have ever been successful in requesting peace AND compensation. However, if the AI decides to sign a peace treaty then they usually would give away a lot. It's

In practice, it seems like the defense roll really does start at 1. The problem with this is that you can get an infinite loop where both side cannot damage each other and the battle goes on forever. For example a ship with 1 attach and 1 (or more) defence against another ship of the same c

What makes a race a "minor" one? Are they limited to the number of planets they can have? Are they easy to enslave...heh. They cannot colonise other planets. However, they can be given planets and also influence flip a planet. I don't think they can invade either.

BTW, new computer system nowadays have bad graphic cards (or even worse - integrated graphic cards) It's because they don't expect everyone to be a gamer, so there might be a problem when one actually wants to play a modern game.

It's just nice to have a choice to specify our own map size with no limits. I mean, we don't have a limit for polygons for models so why do will need a limit for map size unless something's hardcoded to a certain size. I can imagine myself years from now still playing this game and probably having a machine that can handle 50x50 maps BTW, I just pulled

I play gigantic a few times and never had much slow time problems. There were a few turns in the late game that took a while (less than a minute) but it was because I had a sensor ship that could see most of the galaxy.

15 Replies 12,343 Views

I have an itch to want to play maps larger than 16x16 (Gigantic). Would it be possible in future patches to include something to allow players to choose there own galaxy size? ie 32 x 32? Or is this just all silly?

Case 1) I'm trying to build a defense network to defend against constant Dread Lord attacks on my core worlds. The UP suddenly decides that you can only put three modules per starbase. Gahhhhhhh Yeah, the UP really should think about the bill dependant on the scenario. That's funny. <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=center bgColor=#FF

terraformer to terraform class 0 planets up to class 5 or so I always think this would be great as many others have mentioned it. But I think it should take a lot of time for this to be done - research the correct technology, then time and cost to terraform the planet.

You can trade or buy other races' Influence Points that will then be used for the next UP vote...can be very handy sometimes. That's true. UP votes are based on influence points. I've done that on several occasion but you need to buy a lot! <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Smile.g

I don't think we should rmove using constructor to build starbase upgrades because this will dramatically change the way the game is played. ie constructor being destroyed, diverting constructor to another starbase at the last second, deciding not be build constructor at the planet etc The main annoyance is in fact the popup message box. In which case a build queue at the starbase would be nice so it knows what to build when the next co
