More unnecessary crap to bog down the game /unsigned. If you want Total War go play Total War this is Elemental:War of Magic not romper room kindergarden oooohh lookit the pretty pictures. Last thing I want is yet another kiddy clickfest rts game.

No the defender shouldn't move first but get first missle strike. The defender should defend the attacker is the one who should advance. But, there should be terrain advantages for the defender to hide behind and give bonuses to THACO so they can't be hit so easily by attacker missle fire. Also once again this IGOUGO system has to be removed for simultaneous attacks so that both units will attack and defend at the same times. I'm tired of these whoever goes first has the advantage in combat.<
As a paying customer I would adivse getting it now to support Stardock and jump on the train of fun as they improve on what is already a great game. Sure it had some issues but for the most part it's really stable and doesn't have that many problems. I can play full games to their end and have only had 1 crash since the game came out. Get it now and stop listening to the trolls who probably don't even own a copy.
As I said you don't know what you are talking about. Please ignore this falconne2 character. Strategy is strategy there can be limitations to it or not. If you use exploits or things the ai cannot or will not use then you are gaming the game not playing strategy. If you can't get it through your head that playing against an AI is DIFFERENT from playing against a human and that STRATEGIES are DIFFERENT and must be played DIFFERENTLY then there is no hope for you. Just like you said AI's aren't

It's actually pretty good. I just tried it out with 4 ai opponents on a small map with powerful magic on hard setting and I got screwed royally in the setup. hahaha I'd like to see some of those that boast how easy MOM is to play this map out as I'm on a little island that I can only have two cities on and no chance of getting off of it for awhile. While the ai are on large flats of land and already have 3+ cities growing and drawing their plans against me. I wonder how many of those boasters
If you have to use facepalm pics it shows what a child you are. Growup!
Having heroes get one-shot because of a crummy defense roll is nothing resembling fun.
Oh yes it will....in MULTIPLAYER! hahahaahah
The combat system should be simple. Look at famous games like Civilization, Alpha Centauri, Master of Magic even and Colonization. Give units a base value dependent on their type (and have LOTS of TYPES in the game) then add modifiers from equipment like +2 for magical weapons to +5 like in dnd. All other things being equal except for magic and ranger. Give bonuses for length of weapon, give first strike advantages even if on defense. Give some units counterattack abilities before they die if
The things you've described are not exploits, they are core game mechanics. They are not exploits unavailable to the AI. The reason the AI is beating you is because it is playing the game the way it's supposed to be played and you're purposefully handicapping yourself. When strategy game fans play, they want the intellectual stimulation of a complex suite of game mechanics which they try to comprehend then figure out how to ma
We shouldn't have to make ourselves dumber in order to make the game harder.
You're already dumber by thinking the ai should be smarter. You must play against an ai like it was your little brother just learning how to play chess. He isn't going to get better by you using exploits he doesn't know about or would never use on you. When you game the game it's your loss and you'll never find any challenge or happiness if you co
It would be naive to believe that the majority are happy about the state of the game, simply because they aren't vocal about it.
I guess you missed the poll that showed nearly 60% are happy with the game in the state it is in. That is a majority so that makes you naive to think just because you and your little troll friends don't like the game that the majority doesn't either.
Dynasties are a nice idea but not thought out, Total War did and did it better.
And Crusader Kings by Paradox did it even better and CK 2 is coming.
You guys that don't understand DOS or DOSBOX should get D-FEND RELOADED http://dfendreloaded.sourceforge.net/ . It is so easy to use you just direct it to the DOS game you want to play and it sets everything up for you. MOM will run great through it for those that have old disks or cds of MOM. Also if you've ever bought a game through GoG you can copy and paste the DOSBOX setup and just change the name of the file and the exe name at
http://www.rpgcodex.net/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=43788 Well now if you can't take Elemental in its present state you can now play MOM again in a better state than the 1.31 version. The unoffical patch http://www.mediafire.com/?jwy4zdmujdw + you need this one first : http://www.mediafire.com/?mtx3nfj3wwj
Oh they can turn MP on just don't improve or do anything with it for 6 months or until the SP game is in top working order. Just reminding them an everyone else their main objective "nothing in SP will be sacrificed for the sake of MP". Since SP is rather messed up anything taken away from it right now would be a "sacrifice". At this point even turning it on would be a sacrifice since 100% of the effort should be put into the SP game right now.
The focus right now should be on the main SP game and forget about MP for awhile. Remember? " "nothing in SP will be sacrificed for the sake of MP" and that's the way it should be until the SP game is polished and a lot better than it is now.
Only to the MP biatches. Not for the single players. I agree with work on the SP game first and forget MP for 6 months or a year. Let em biatch they've already been doin that anyway no use in throwing salt onto an OLD wound. Best to keep one of their promises: " "nothing in SP will be sacrificed for the sake of MP"
One Solution: is to try not to micromanage your units training and deveolpment so much and just play the game at a higher level cognitive process. Let go of the min/max power gamer control and just play it as life happens. you cannot control everything, only your response. Try it first then decide if it is a better solution or not. Sure there might be a bug in the mechanic but there are bigger bugs that crash my ga

Go play candlyland if you can't handle it pal. It's the way of Empire Building. Even the simpliest Empire builder out there "E
I played Dominions multiplayer. And quite frankly most of these rpg tbs 4E games I enjoy single player much more than multiplayer. My hope is that you design the AI to have difficulty settings. So that when the "easy" or "normal" setting becomes too easy, the next higher difficulty setting can be used. I think if you overdo the AI and "turn it all the way up" as some in this tread recommend, you will make the gam
All I ask is that the ai PLAYS TO WIN not just there to DELAY the human players inevitable victory. I see so many games where it's just time spent getting to the end of all the turns instead of full fledged goals for both the human player and the AI. Also, if/when the human player has a moderate lead the ai's should start allying and banding together against him. This is what makes a great game imho when the challenge remains in the middle and end game not just the beginning.
