Just a quick post to say thank you for all your support and use of common sense. All of the questions raised have been answered by others, so there isn't much for me to say. I am now roughly piecing together the ideas and notes for 1.4, so work should start on it within the next few days. An ETA on the release is very inaccurate, but expect it to be between 3 and 6 weeks, roughly.
I was trying to create new stars and effects to add to the mod, but it ended in travesty and
Uranium - 235
Alright I got my star (ooo a sphere) open in 3DS Max. Now my problem is the texture. I have the texture, I suppose, a 2048x2048. However I need to generate the mipmaps for it, but I'm unsure what parameters to use in the dds tool to do so.
#3: you can open the brushes files in notepad
Odd, I tried to open one in Notepad++ and it was crazy. Maybe it was a fluke or something. Trying them now and they work... so... whoops ;) Okay, only #1 and #2 left :P
Okay, I'm not trying anything overambitious. I want to make a new star, but it's going to be a different size than the standard fare. For that I'm going to need to change the size of the mesh. I'm also going to need to edit the texture. There's a three-part operation to this, and I'm having a little trouble at each one. Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. So here's where I'm at. I opened up and changed the texture (.dds file) using the nVidia DTX plugin for Photo
Click on the icon of the magnetic / plasma storm, or even some asteroid fields or space junks, and in the 'button area', there should be an icon. Mouseover it to see what it does. For what it's worth, Plasma Storms are supposed to disable strikecraft from launching (though mine still seem to do it), and Magnetic Storms disable antimatter from being used (or maybe it's the other way around). Asteroids of Space Junks sometimes cause a 20% chance to hit penalty.
Don't get mad at me if you can't figure out how to use things.
There's something ironic about a patronizing post coming from someone who says $20 for a digital copy of a game over 5 years old is a 'good deal' because I'm supposed to wait for it to go on sale some day. If I go to Walmart, I can find Splinter Cell is some bargain bin for less that $20. I get a box, a case, a hard copy of the game, a manual, whatever. This also means that Walmart is taking some of t
To who is a 10 hour game, a 2 hour game, a puzzle game demo, and a long lasting multiplayer game NOT a deal? And then you Get HL2 and EP1.In case you were sleeping the last 5 years, most games nowadays are 5 hours long.
No, games aren't "5 hours long" unless you're a Valve fanboy and all you've ever played are their overpriced, underdelivering, delayed 'episodic content'. As for the Orange Box, the only people it was a 'good deal' to were the people who WERE 'slee
Steam may be a competitor of Stardock, but trying to compete head-to-head with it won't gain anything. Using it would benefit both sides.
You're one of those people who always misses the 'big picture', aren't you? "MAKING GAMES THAT DON'T APPEAL TO THE MAINSTREAM CROWD WILL NOT GET YOU AS MUCH MONEY, SO THEREFORE NOBODY SHOULD EVER DO IT LOLOL"
People love Steam for some reason, but it will have some serious competition in a few months...People love it because it works (it's had plenty of time to iron out the kinks).
Wrong. I haven't seen Steam in a fully functional bug-free state since its inception, what? Two years ago? Half the time I try to patch it doesn't even work, and the in-game portion of it has caused nothing but headaches for a LOT of people.
And also because Valve makes great games t
[link="http:// http://files.filefront.com/Sins+Plus+104+Patchrar/"]Sins Plus v1.3a 1.04 Patch[/link] Also contains a bugfix. In English.str:
Value "Smugglers use this planet as a base of operations in the area, and constantly "borrow" goods from the planet's traders."
The quotes in the middle cause the string to terminate early, showing only part of the message in-game. I replaced the double quotes with single quotes.
what does or should "a deadly secret" do?i just discovered it on a desert planet i had and the second it was found the planet got kinda "disabled" - like it doesn't exist anymore.i can't build anything, all my build-queue is gone and the constructors vanished...can't colonize it either because my ships just ignore it like it's not there?!
You can read descriptions for planet bonuses by selecting the planet and mousing over the window where it shows how much % is explored.
Okay people, I'm halfway through a 200 planet / 9 star galaxy and I've not had a single problem. Secondly, the 1.04 patch was nothing more than some number changing - the numbers which I moved over into the Sins + 1.3a 1.04 patch that's in the first post. Therefore, there is nothing in the 1.04 patch that would cause problems with Sins+ that it wasn't having with 1.03. Any sort of minidump problems are your problems. Either your computer is having problems, you completely suck
anywho, aperently my map designer is making the starter planets 1 urban 1 ice and 1 volcanic each time, so yah, your mod had done something to my map designer. also i almost perfected customizing random generator maps using your mod.
If it's that big of a problem, save the map, and open the .galaxy file with notepad++ or something. There's a big block at the beginning about the starter worlds. Post that here. The in-game map designer does nothing of the sort for me. <
don't be a j*w and help us.
Eat a dick. He's doing this for FREE you ungrateful chodefloater.
*Shrug* It appears to work on mine. I used your suggestion of CompareIt! and the reference files, and I have a .rar of the necessary modified files ready, if you'd like me to post it. Uzii - I do want to ask why you have all these 'redundant' files in the mod folder. I've not done Sins modding - is it necessary that all the core files (in Gameinfo, for example) be present? I'm used to 'missing' files simply being written in by the core files.
Yes. It does.1.3 is just the version number, same as Sins 1.04. They are not related to each other, its just coincidence.
I just assumed new patch + mod + no update = no worky :p
Wish the devs could do something about mods not working with patchs.
It's the modder's job to make sure their mod works with the game, not the developers job to make sure their game works with the mod. Seriously... what?
I have no motivation to play 1.04 without Sins+ :(
Uranium, it sounds like you still pine for the original Natural Selection before it turned into a rush game. Wasn't it 1.04, or was it an earlier release?Yeah, I remember you from those forums.
:D
Uranium, pretending it's a real military/economy simulation and not just a game for a minute, even if the local population's leadership practiced a scorched earth policy as they went down to defeat, at minimum the invading force gets a huge boost in the net amount of recyclable stuff that's sitting around waiting for the first available forge. Even a razed city, unless it's been completely nuked and is radioactive for centuries, is going to be full of metal girders that are much easier an
EDIT: Double Post
I will say this - Great Tribal War. These three words are going to be utterly meaningless to 99.999% of the population here, but I bet there's one other person here who will read that and experience a rush of nostalgia. I, and the other niche players who played it, pretty much experienced a game that was, and I do not exaggerate, unlike absolutely anything I'd ever played before. Honestly, people that went into that didn't leave the same. Ever since those few games I played, almo
This sounds like..... PLANETSIDE!!!!!I love that game so much
Planetside was a brilliant game that lost so much due to the limits SOE put on it. Despite its flaws, the game that I played at release was, well, life-changing, almost. The concepts it presented, the way it worked, and how WELL it worked utterly ruined any future perceptions I had for FPS games. Whereas Planetside made me hunger for games that were as deep, strategic, and utterly well-rounded as it was, instea
