I've never seen that kind of force (especially the capital ships) come at me in only 15 minutes. I would be crushed as well. However, I would love it if the AI equipped that many capital ships with its invasion force. Most of the time, they come at me with frigate/light carrier combos of medium size. The AI really needs to figure out when to send skirmish forces, and when to bring the whole fleet.
Paradoxnt
I imagine the tactical AI will be improved somewhat before the release version. As for the game taking too long, if they get rid of the present sequential travel between stars (A-B-C-D-E-F) in favor of 'any star to any star' (A-F), it will cut down the game duration. Also, if you limit the number of planets on the map in the setup, you can speed up your games a bit.

Well, either is correct. But if you go up to strangers mentioning "Sol", they'll think you're some religious nut talking about their souls. Probably safer for us to just let this one go....after all, I doubt Sol really cares either way.
Let's get back to capital ships and whether or not they should be researched. Having access to cutting edge capital ships with awesome abilities prior to cruisers (or more advanced frigates) just seems so wrong. I still would like to see capital ships being the next step in the tech tree AFTER their similar concept cruisers. So, for example, to be able to research the Sova Carrier, you would have to research the Light Carrier Cruiser first.
Hi Shibfilet, no need to get upset. In my earlier post, I was talking about star to star travel(outer-system), NOT planet/asteroid to planet/asteroid travel (inner-system). My point is that it takes way too long to travel from star to star in series. For example, if you are at star (A) and want to get to star (E), right now you would have to go to stars (B), (C), and (D) first. What I was proposing was that we be allowed to directly travel from ANY star to ANY other star. So using t
Yeah, it would be nice to be able to designate a ship/fleet as the rally point.
Hehe, and in the 'red' states, one in two is inbred AND retarded....the other is just inbred. As it is, it only makes sense that the solar system only refers to stars in the Universe with the name 'Sol' = 1.
I kind of like the culture system. You could have moved your capital to the system you had that was most at risk of rebelling. Then you could have made all your logistical slots in the planets next to stars all broadcast stations. This would have maximized your defense agaisnt enemy culture. Even if they had a couple more systems than you, you should have still been able to resist.
Hmmm, dict.die.net says it is just our system. Astrosociety.org says just the sun and its satellites. Wiki only talks about the solar system as just our system. It seems that the sites that say that every star in the Universe are solar systems are dumbed down for the masses.
Jumping through 10 stars in sequence can take close to an hour = big maps would be unplayable for most of us. Ironclad really needs to allow 'any star to any star' travel (but keep the present phase lane connections for in-system). Even if Ironclad finally allows 'any star to any star' travel, your backlines can still be reinforced long before your opponents fleet gets there....as long as you research Tier 2 Phase Lane Radar to give you a warning. The distance your defensive fleet wou
I prefer the term 'star systems'. We never did find our for sure if only our star system can be called Solar System.
I've played capital all fleets, frigate/cruiser mix fleets and frigate only fleets. Frigate only fleets can really cost you a lot in replacements. Game is shapping up well so far. Looking forward to the balancing/multiplayer beta work. Only serious gripes I have so far: 1. All stars should be fully interconnected by phase lanes. Right now, we have to go from star to star to star to star to star to get to target star = unplayable waste of time. Right now, the daisy
For modding purposes, I do hope we'll be able to create planet (or even star) destroying weapons.
RESPECT HIS AUTHORITAY!
Yeah, I wouldn't likely ever use the 'different ships arrive at different times' function. If you want your carriers to arrive later, all you have to do is make a seperate carrier group and send it a minute after the first group of ships jumps to phase space.
Yeah, the TEC workers have a powerful union. Even in 'times of war', the TEC doesn't even think about messing with them.
I could go with either the 10% bonus flagship or the specialized "Inspirational" flagship. Both sound fine to me.
Wow, this is new. I've never heard anyone ask for ramming before. Of course ramming should be in the game. I would like it if I could take a single strike craft and ram it into my opponents 100% healthy battleship and have both ships totally destroyed. Better yet, I would like to be able to take my strike craft and ram it into my opponents planet and kill all his population. Also, if I self destruct a strike craft, I want all enemy ships in the same gravity well to be destro
Your Flagship IS significantly more powerful than other capital ships. It starts with a couple of extra levels. It continues to remain a few levels higher than your other capital ships (unless the game lasts a long time).
I am really looking forward to being able to select the class of my flagship. This will make for some interesting early encounters...although I suspect most people will go for the Sova Carrier or Arkan BC.
Yeah, it would be nice if 'in combat replacements' were produced at a slightly slower rate then the game presently is set at. But I see what you mean about needing a decent strike craft build speed outside of combat. I would like it if a basic fighter squad took 1-2 minutes to build, and advanced fighter squads took more like 3-4 minutes to build. I am assuming here that the advanced fighters statistics would be about twice as powerful as the basic models.
Yeah, the more advanced strike craft should take a very long time to build
I kinda like the idea as well. But this would likely increase the time it takes to play a multiplayer game. As it is now, multiplayer games are going to take a very long time to complete. It would be lot easier and quicker for Ironclad to just allow free travel from any star to any other star. Doing so would also make more intuitive sense.
Yeah, I kinda like the 'Time' cost for strike craft. As it is, there is no need to make strike craft cost resources. I hope Ironclad introduces more models of strike craft. The more advanced models should take longer to build to simulate the added complexity. It would make for some interesting fast build/average versus slow build/awesome strike craft confrontations.
