I find this thread intriguing as an insight into the mindset of Americans. Essentially the view that is getting banded around is that the high oil prices are a short term blip that is the fault of X. X can be anything from china, oil companies, speculators, government etc. The mindset seems to believe that it is their birthright to have cheap oil and that someone had better do something about it or your get really pissy! Like it or not oil is finite, the market price a

I've often wondered that. You get a small about of Hull HP come off but not really anymore than hey can regenerate. You still have to remove all their shields anyway.
Its certainly not an instant win any more.
with Vasari do you also have to take out phase gates so they can't use RA?
That will work on a single system, it will also slow down their backup. But really you want to destroy their labs. Without enough of those they loose the RA ability.
To be banned for "advocating piracy" because some idiot didn't know the licence conditions must be frustrating...
Thing is it wouldn't surprise me in the least if according to the Microsoft T&C you do need to buy a whole new copy if you loose the disk but still have the license.
Paragraphs dude!
That's not just RTS, that's the internet full stop. You get that level of inconsideration and immaturity on everything from forums to Poker sites. Although that's fun because if you know what your doing you can take their allowance while they vent expletives. The guy above is right Sins is relatively mature. But I am hopeful things will improve on the net. Reason I say this is because I'm a first generation home gamer. and by that I mean the old BBC computer, the one where you
Actually looking at those screen shots that IS BotF, indeed in one they call it BotF2. Well judging from those screen shots its BotF 1.5 not even 2. Maybe its early days, but it does not look to me like they have come very far from 1999. Yet..
I loved BotF. Good news. Although if its a really good game it might tip the balance for Stardock about what to do with GC2, as in roll out more expansions or start work on GC3.
Star Trek Online -MMORPG- is in development!too bad that can't even make a good single player game based on ST
I thought there were 3 really good ones. Birth of the Federation, Bridge Commander and some other old one were you control the enterprise and track some mystery thingy down.
I would call EVE Online one of the most innovative MMOs, but it's a niche game really
I was thinking of getting into EVE (the game that is, not the one from the cafe opposite my office) so I looked into it. Anyone who actually plays feel free to correct me. But it appeared to me in theory to be the best game ever, but in practice just a griefers paradise.
Please note:because SINS is entirely P2P, the host is more a "host" in name only. Everyone involved in a SINS MP game, runs the ENTIRE simulation locally and the host only SYNCS everyone together.
Ah, so that's why 7 people all get paused when one person is lagging.
I notice no one has mentioned Avencast: Rise of a mage. Its a title on Impluse so I could have it up and running in no time at all, but interesting it has been completely overlooked here. I know its from a small developers but surely that would not put off sinners.
I have a vision for what it could be and that would be great. A massive version of Bridge Commander. My vision would be that with tons of bells and whistles. Mid battle you can break away to adjust levels in engineering, you can adjust helm tactics, give orders to tactical about which systems to target. Navigation would be its own art. Crew evaluations, promotion to the right team handling low moral etc. However, my vision would lead be a very deep game. If it was done as wel
But is it equal across all trade ports based on the chain. For example if I have planets A B C D E F in a chain. I want to build 12 TP and 12 labs, would it be exactly the same to have 2 labs and 2 TPs at each. Or would it be better if I had my TP's like this 4 at A and F, 2 at B and E and 1 at C D? With the labs reversed. Thus the chain is maintained. But the average distance betwwen the weighted locations of TP is maximised.
While we'd be honored to work with Massive, any deal would pretty much depend on their cash position, as we're not in a position to fund them. Stardock really only works with self-funded developers, which are a very rare breed in this industry.
Is that why so many developers end up in the claws of EA? Because EA offer support funding in return for a % of revenues, profits or equity?
Yea I heard it's in production I think it'll be great. But I don't know do I have to pay the monthly subscription like in WoW?
Does the pope wear a silly hat?
use your scouts ability to capture nutral mines they can change the whole game if you capture them early enough.
Unbelievable, I sent so long looking for how Vasari capture neutral mines. Never occurred to me to look at the scouts!
Sort of reminds me of Yahoo Answers were I recently got my account banned. I’m not sure which answer it was but I bet it is one of two. One was some woman who used her full character allowance plus two full extra sections to describe why she suspects her husband was lying to her and how upset she was. Basically it came down to this. She went out, hubby had a wank and left the box of tissues by the computer. Then denied looking at porn when she went off on one at him. She was asking if s
.Yeh! - it does look a bit dated - I went back to it a few months ago and was a bit taken aback how much things have moved on.
Quite, which is why I prefer semi recent games. Often we remember good games very fondly but if we ever go back and attempt to play them again suddenly they seem blocky and awkward. I tried this with GTA Vice City and it slightly spoilt the memory for me. Same reason I won't go back and play Mafia, I know that its better to remember the way it w
What does the unfair mean? That the AI is at its best, or that it gets an unfair advantage in terms of extra credits and resources.
;p Can anyone recommend a Great Story Driven Game? :HOT:
Hmm, I doubt those options would be viable, but harm in having them as advanced options I guess. I simply doubt more than a small handful would ever use them. The bug for me at the moment is starting positions. I will be much happier when we can play a 3v3 and both sets of 3 start in their own star.
I'm sure that Stardock appreciates the users going to lengths to involve the community to beta-test their software for free, but it was a sad day when game companies started releasing less-than-stable products to the community all to make a deadline. Patches should be for minor bug fixes, not major networking issues. I give them a 2 desynched fists out of 5.
Its a beta not a patch. And they make it very clear (to me it was at least) that it is not stable, and not polished
I remember one of the Stardock crew was kind enough to point out that Sins was a bit like Total Annihilation but in space. Now I'm probably going to buy it anyway because its a Stardock title. But whats the deal here? Is it like Warcraft 3 or something, except with bigger Hero's? P.S I hated Warcraft 3, Warcraft 2 was a classic. But with W2 you created units and sent them to battle, you focused on the strategic situation. How the war as a whole played out rather
