Helix the II said: What is the problem with the language, anyway? A word is a word is a word.. I don't get the objection to profanity. It could be alot worse. Some people aren't happy unless they're insulted with flowery praise, but that's just mental masturbation and pure bullshit. What's wrong wi

This would be a neat number to know, but in my experimenting, it seems it is harder to find out that one might think. The DesktopX object thomassen suggested does show a total, but it is again a total PER SECOND, rather than the sum total for a session I think wyclef77 is looking for. I may have overlooked somehting, but I couldn't find a PDH Meter class that just spits out this number. Some meters in Performance Object: Terminal Ser

I misstyped the tag names in the OP, but Essencay knew what I meant. I said BackgroundBorder, but was referring to OutsideBorder (I was using the right syntax in my ini's though). There are TabsOutsideBorderLeft, etc. and ContentBufferLeft, etc. tags which are definitely tabbed dock specific. The generic OutsideBorderLeft, etc. tags are not labeled as such in the SkinningTheDock.txt file included with ObjectDock. Also, adding an Out

Ah, cool, some things to try. Thanks, Bichur! I had wondered why some backgrounds had transparent borders, figured people were just leaving room...it seems counter-intuitive that extra transparent pixels outside the actual image would help, but I will give it a shot I had tried the separator workaround. It does the job, even with no separator defined at all! Unfortunately, while it works well for fixing the overlap, by artificially

I think the general concept is very sound, but being your first skin, you will find that it's all in the details, as the comments on skin have pointed out. Don't get discouraged. I'd love it if people were as critical of my work. Sometimes it is easy to read too much into the tone of a comment, and overlook the content. With all that feedback you can keep and discard what advice you like, and are better prepared for your next endeav

I've also posted this inthe newsgroups. I hope this is not considered needless cross-posting, as I think I'll reach a different audience on the forums. And I could really use some pointers. Hey y'all, I'm trying to create my first OD background, and of course I have to jump right in and also include a foreground. Other than that I'm trying to keep it simple, but have run into a problem I can't seem to tweak away.

I experienced exactly what you describe using a Gigabyte wireless card and Gigabyte router on my new desktop. Not much consolation, but it seems to have gone away. Let me just throw some things out there I remember trying, see if one sticks. 1) Just wait a bit. I found that sometimes, when going online wasn't my priority, that it eventually sorted itself without my having to say repair. This is less annoying if in your connection

To add a SysTray section, configure the dock in question, and in the Dock Proerties window, select Dock Contents. There you have the option to turn on SysTray OR Taskbar OR Neither. You can have a SysTray and other dock items in one dock, but not a SysTray and a Taskbar. If your having trouble adding items to a dock with a SysTray, keep in mind that If the dock is positioned on the right side of your screen, then the SysTray should b

Congrats on broadband! Won't take long to become spoiled. Using someone elses PC on a dial-up connection has me pulling out my hair in impatience. Speed check? How long since you've just browsed at deviantArt? That place is phenomenal once you don't have to wait 10 minutes for each page of thumbnails. But I know what you mean. Here's a couple: http://reviews.cnet.com/Bandwidth_meter/7004-7254_7-0.html (CNet) http://nyc.s

I vote against adding IM client skins and associated frou-frou. It seems like there are so many clients, and so many other items to go along with them that if you wanted to do it right a better idea would be an entire dedicated site. Would there be a section where folks could share their scripts for advertisment spamming?

Just wanting to say that I am also experiencing weird behavior with submissions. No double e-mails or rejections, but I uploaded a widget, and it was accepted immediately while the same object for DesktopX took a while to get through moderation. I also updated said items and the process was the same. My widget showed up for a few days if one clicked on the Gallery tab and saw the newest submissions in each gallery. It does not show up if yo

Your cache files may have become corrupted and not removed by uninstall. A typical location for cache files: C:\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Application Data\Stardock\DesktopX Delete this folder, or the entire Stardock folder here. This is just a suggestion, but I hope it helps.

Also experiencing this. Clicking in taskbar to minimize doesn't work in my case. Also with Thunderbird. While I'm glad that djliquidjuice is unfazed I personally find it pretty irritating. Browser windows are the perfect application for having mini-views in the dock. Mousing over icons to see the window titles, well, I may as well just use the regular taskbar, which is essentially what I wanted to avoid. I mean, Isn't this why whe

I am also very new to SysStats, but have had some luck and a lot of fun playing with it. The big thing that holds me back is that when you configure a PDH meter, the dialogue always seems to reset to a default "processor" Performance Object, rather than remembering what you set it at last time you had it open. This can make experimentation a pain. But, it does remember what it's set to as long as you don't open it again! meaning, it sems to

Hi all. My Cursor XP has stopped working. When I double-click on the executable, nothing happens. When I access the CursorXP tab in the mouse control panel, all the options are greyed out (but the tab is still there). If I double click on a theme, it will show a progress "generating cursor maps" and then the displayed cursor in the CurXPCPl.exe and the tab in mouse control panel will show that theme, but it doesn't apply to my cursor which

I am beginning to explore SkinStudio, and while I am far, far from making anything worth uploading, I'd like to make sure I do things right from the start. When I Chose to create a new skin in SkinStudio, it automatically filled in all the bits and pieces with a generic XP style (blue). Is this style considered "public domain" and OK to use as a base for new skins? I find it much less confusing to Select a component and Change (Replace) the bits to my freshly created bitmaps than it w
