I think more time wouldn't be a bad thing. There might be counters we just haven't discovered yet. There must be other ways to pressure someone who is going straight for a titan. I think the key here is making them a bit more risky for the player who builds one if they race to it. If you weaken them too much, their role changes. It truly is as ZombieRus5 stated what the developers want the titan class ship role to be, and just maybe it is different per faction.

Whether they work for that role or not, I don't know, I just reasonably presumed fielding them against Titans would just get them swatted by the dozen.
I was thinking along the same lines. They could be a way to keep tabs on and harass low level titans until your fleet corners it. They could be decent s

I've played 3 lengthy games of the beta so far trying to figure out how best to use corvettes. The do work as great fodder for starbase assaults against TEC keeping the beam weapons occupied but other than that, they haven't been all to useful. When I have them in my fleet, I usually have to replenish their numbers because they die so quickly. In my last game, I didn't even bother with them past early game. Anyone find other uses for them yet

Will there be a post when the process is complete and all emails are out?

Does this clear up a few things Falcon?
I didn't see that statement by the devs so thanks for clarifying. I'll believe you are trustworthy despite your avatar :)

I thought they said only those who pre-ordered directly from Stardock would get into the beta (but I could be wrong). I imagine if multiplayer is a part of beta 1, we'll either need to download from Stardock (like the elemental beta) and enter a key into Steam or we'll download it directly from steam.

Mix it up a bit.
I've wondered the same thing. I imagined it is because the game is supposed to take place in TEC owned space but changing up the miltia wouldn't be a bad thing.

Even though I don't play multiplayer much, from that preview, some match ups seem like they could be interesting to play and possibly powerful combinations. Imagine TEC Loyalists and rebels on a team. Rebels quickly remove milita from the choke points by allying with them while the loyalists colonize and build up defenses. Later the loyalists bombard with novaliths behind their defensive lines while the rebels follow up with a combined pirate and non-pirate fleet attack. With 6 fact

I feel for the non-steam users but it's really a lost cause at this point. The exposure games get, the amount of steam users who are content with the service, and the better alternative that is Steam to other DRMs out there makes advocating the dropping of steam a very difficult battle to fight and win. Without severely impacting game sales, things won't change. And to do that, you need either a lot of steam users to jump ship because of their practices or all the voices of

What I find most interesting about the preview is the part about the build process. I know there has been some discussion on titan balance - whether making them easy to obtain but very weak until leveled, or difficult to build but strong from the start were some of the options. Because they are built in four stages and other players are alerted (so they can strike before it is done I imagine), I assume they are going to be very strong from the get go, unless building one is mean

Same here. I was hoping for a Company of Heroes path choosing style where you could choose at any time but I understand wanting to streamline and not make things more complex than they need to be so selecting from the start is fine by me :)

I like this idea as well. I tried to mod something similar. You can't specifically target systems but it is possible to add abilities to simulate damage. For example, when the ship is 60% damaged, set the speed to 0 to indicate engine failure. The problem is systems will always fail in the same order.

I was hoping the vasari's titan had the capability of acting as the captial planet allowing them to survive without planets as well as boost tax rate in adjacent grav wells. Maybe allow the titan to build research modules on board to free up logistic spots. Something that signifies their nomadic behavior. Maybe also having some advanced scouting capabilities like the ability to send short lived probes into all connected systems from the one the ship is currently in.

I like how the tech tree has been streamlined however it seems like it doesn't pay to concentrate solely on one tree . In the games i've played so far, there have been times when, for example, I could research heavy armor in 162 turns or in 85 turns I could get more than a few useful lower tier magic and civ techs. Maybe achieving that late game tech before other factions would still allow you to compete if you didn't grab the lower level techs, but

I don't know if those with slow downs and crashes experience them at the beginning of a new game but for me, it has happened after playing several turns into the game. I've noticed what seems to cause it (in my case anyway) is moving through turns very quickly. Even though there is sometimes a lot to do within a turn, I tend to do what I need to in a very short time span. Since increasing the time between end turn clicks, the game has run a lot smoother and I haven't crashed
