People say "ah it's easy, just have multiple fleets, blah blah" (and of course you should), but this is simply a retarded game play mechanic. No interdictor ship is needed, the whole problem is the way they changed the phase jump inhibitor. Read my thread here: https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/?forumid=402&aid=175957#1450516 The way to solve this particular problem (as well as making the game far more enjoyable from a strategic standpoint) is to make the phase jump inhib

Okay, I got the explanation. Thanks. I wasn't part of the beta, but I actually don't like the rationale for nerfing the PJI, as I'm reading it here. It seems to me that one needs the ability to create strategic strong points - it makes little sense not to have this, otherwise practically any world can be attacked at any time, anywhere, and you can't simply be at all places at all times with your fleets, and you can't max out all defenses at all places at all times. I don't mi
Hello, First, a disclaimer: This is not a complaint I am posting. This is not whining. This is not asking for a nerf, or a buff. This is simply what it advertises itself to be - an honest question, nothing more nothing less. At any rate, I keep running into postings about people playing "phase jump tag" or "phase jump hopscotch" or "phase jump ballet" or "phase jump musical chairs" or whatever you want to call it. My question is simply "Why was the phase jump inhibitor ner
If the AI is running from a battle it calculates it cannot win, that is smart. So don't dumb down the AI and make it stupider in order to "force an engagement" as you put it. That would simply create a dumber AI. The solution seems to be making phase jump inhibitors that actually work. My question is why they were nerfed down (from the beta) from stopping phase jumping. I mean, there must have been a reason. What were the complaints then about phase inhibitors stopping phase jumpin
Then I never see these problems on a medium AI. Yes, I see strike groups consisting of nothing more than 12-14 Cleansers/Siege Frigates/Those weird Vasari beam frigates but they usually withdraw after losing half their group to bomber strafing.
I think people complaining about AI is a different discussion (and I agree, it isn't a problem). I think the complaint here is what a human can do to you. Either way, it seems ridiculous to me too that phase inhibit
Hi, I'm a mega-newbie, never played the beta or anything, but tracked the game for a long time. Anyway, started my first game yesterday, and since the TEC seemed like the boring, standard human faction, I picked Vasari, thinking I would move to Advent later. At any rate, I got my butt kicked. But that's basically irrelevant - what *is* relevant is that I think I didn't understand the Vasari philosophy, what they are good at doing, how they are to be played, etc. For my start
I think what you are missing is that you will need a fair number of ships escorting your cap ship. If he's spamming 20 light frigates and sending them at you, you will normally need a similar-sized fleet, give or take, if you are talking the same class of ships (you could of course use less numbers of higher-classed ships, I'm guessing). Pay attention to unit matchups, too. I'm by no means no expert on this game at this point, but in my last game I did build a carrier cap ship, and wh
Of course I agree wholeheartedly that the actual game itself, the "sandbox" if you will, is far more important than any campaign. And if the developers sacrificed the lesser important thing to work on the more important thing, I applaud that decision, I truly do. The AI gangs up on me when I am the least powerful (I've never been the most powerful), and won't fight each other at all. In fact, they come into all my systems with all guns blazing in COORDINATED attacks, and their ships w
No campaign? Why not? In the months before the game I was reading all about the fiction of the TEC, and the Vasari running from this galactic inner core threat, yadda yadda. I thought there would be a campaign that would help tell the story? So all we get is backdrop, but no campaign? That's disappointing. Don't get me wrong, the game is great - I love it. But I wish there was a campaign. (Oh, a minor annoyance - the AI gangs up against you even if you put the AIs all on
LOL - I don't get it. I downloaded the game and went to the tutorial section. I started the first tutorial and expected it to "hold my hand" so to speak and tell me what to do and guide me through everything. Nope - nothing. Nada. Nil. Naught. Zippo. Zip. So... I haven't even played the game yet... at all. Don't get me wrong - I'm an RTS nut, and I'm absolutely positive I'll love this game. But in the meantime, is there some resource someone can direct me to so I can learn how
