Title says it all- can you have multiple shield generators on a planet for greater protection?
The AI seems to be quite good. It does not suicide fleets unless it has to, it is a bit on the cautious side though.
Indeed, I noticed this as well. Can't blame it for retreating sometimes, but there were a few situations where I figured "OK, I'm gonna sit here and chew on them for a while and then get out" and watched the entire enemy fleet phase jump out, leaving a juicy planet to take. Strategically, it should have tried to defend or at least reduced my numbers so
I love the Percheron so far, and the capital carriers are great too. I enjoy watching a swarm of bombers just go hairy ape**** in a big fight.
Maybe it's just me but when playing solo vs an AI opponent, the AI likes to tease me by launching an attack on one of my worlds and sending a snarky message like "I hope you like the smell of rockets in the morning". However, I noticed that it would send one Disciple-class ship to my most fortified chokepoint and say something like "Say goodbye to Maichan" or whatever. Usually, the ship would be space dust before I finished reading the message. But when a fleet with 3 mothershi
Haha, I'll never forget playing Dune II for the first time in high school. Being compared to it favorably is a dream come true.
Cheers- it's a valid comparison. :)
While i agree its a great game, saying its the best game in a decade is a pretty bold statement.
Bold statements on the intarwebs? Never.
In the last 10 years, the following games have come out. 1. Portal (if you dont like this game you are wrong and should feel bad)
Have it, love it, still play it regularly.
There are many complaints about games taking too long - but have you noticed no-one seems to remember there's a "Save" option to take up the game the next day...? And yes, I haven't used the "Save" option either.
Oh, I used it a few times. But then I'd say "Ah, just a bit more- I'll take that next planet" or
Hehe...you think you've lost some sleep PLAYING it..
Heh. Well, I sympathise; my real job is a dev too. Not games, but I know your pain of the sleepless nights.
I built my first Novalith Cannon *just* to shoot at the pirate planet until they were all dead. Dead, dead, dead. I kept shooting while bidding it up on my opponent until I was told I couldn't shoot at a non-hostile target. Then I sent in my cap fleets for practice. :)
Hey folks. Just to set the stage, I've played RTS and turn-based strategy games since before the genre had a name. 15 years ago (maybe longer), I played Dune II until the wee hours in my barracks room (I was in the Army at the time). It was the first game to really grab my attention and not let go. Since then, I've gotten out of the military, gotten a real job, gotten a real life- In short, I'm much older. ;) I still play tons of games, from EVE Online to Hellgate, TF2, Bioshock- even i
If you're in Vista, the game is not installed on the Start Menu. Select Start, type "Games" or browse to the Games Explorer and launch from there. Confused me for a moment when I first installed it.
Newb perspective here, just got the game last night (and played until 5 AM, heh)- I was at first dismayed by the lack of a campaign option, but after I spent several hours and got trounced repeatedly on the smallest map with only 2 players before I built my first capital ship... A campaign might be fun for if and when I get better at the game and want to add depth. For now, it'd be an artificial impediment to playing the game. There's a lot of meat on those bones and like in chess, you
