I believe if you also upgrade your planet health, or what ever its called in game, it will occasionally give you another construction ship. I've noticed on occasion that after upgrading one of my main defense locations, I'll see another little ship hanging around... I may be wrong, but I think it's possible ;) But yeah, in general, logistics and tactical upgrades will give you more ships. This is really useful if your trying to throw together 5-6 ship yards in a hurry ;)

Okay, I don't know how many of you get this scenario, but basically what happens to me is I set a game up against a few other hard AI with an aggresor personality so that they actually attack me instead of sitting in the planet wells waiting for me... Well, I am fighting this glorious game, the AI are putting up an excellent fight, and I'm thoroughly enjoying myself! When suddenly I get the message saying that my planet will soon be overthrown by enemy culture!!! And I'm sitti
Heeey... while we're on the subject of mapmaking... So I made this totally awesome 1v1 map yesterday, but each time I try to play my map, I choose my race, map settings, etc, and hit the load button... but it minidumps as soon as it starts loading up :( Anyone know what I am doing wrong, or what I may do to fix this???
ok... I made a map today, and I am able to play my map with the game, but when the map starts loading, the map causes a minidump error.... What can I do to fix this? P.S. I included the map text file in case it's just a simple error in my map and I can quickly fix it. I deleted out the planet\star\connector info because the text file is so long. They're actually announcing their plans to make Sins a real life thing and that they have already developed baby vasari's and mind altering drugs that will be soon tested on human beings!
First off, do you have enough space on your hard drive? Second, maybe try defragging your harddrive (start->all programs->accessories->system tools-> Disk Defragmenter and then choose your harddrive(s).) Third-> Try updating Direct X Fourth-> Pound on the Keyboard and repeatedly shout "Oh God, why!?" because your missing out on an -awesome- game :D Sorry if none of this helped you, it's all i can think of atm. PS: Shouldn't this be in the technical forum? You'll pr
Make sure your upgrading your planets dude. Fully upgrade their population supports so you get the most taxes out of the planet, upgrade your tactical slots so you can support some mean defenses, upgrade the planet health, and when cash remains, explore your planet for artifacts and bonuses. Something else I personally do when I'm up against AI, is a make a buffer zone between my weaker, less defended planets, and the enemy\nuetral planets. This way if you are under attack, th
Yeah, I got the whole version thing down. but all of the maps, except for one, won't work... And the only one I made that work was a stupid "plain" map, with just two start points and a star. Every other map I have minidumps on me when i try to play it and its seriously pissing me off.
alright, ill try redownloading galaxy forge. I'm guessing thats probably the problem, and not the game itself, figuring everything works 100% fine except for my custom map.
No I don't :\
Ok, I had a post earlier (and sorry if this is considered spam by some of you), but I managed to get a map of mine to appear on the map list, but when I attempt to play my map, its giving me this error Saved MiniDump: C:DOCUME~1\Kevin\LOCALS~1\Temp\Sins Dump\Sins-v1.03-2008-03-16-13-22-08-2304-476.dmp What can I do to keep my maps from bugging like this?
I created a new map this morning, and saved it into C:\Program Files\Stardock\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Galaxy, and went to load it, and the map isn't showing anywhere in the game when I go to play a New Game. Am I doing something wrong? I also tried saving it into my local directory file (where all the saves are.) and it still didn't appear, I deleted it from my local, restarted my computer, and it still isn't there. Does anyone have any idea what i'm doing wrong?
I got this same problem a while back with Warcraft 3... Never did figure out how to fix it and all the idiots at Blizzards Tech Support just scratched their head and basically said "Ma tech manual don't tell me nuttin' bout fixin' yer computa". I figured in the long run that it's all caused by my wireless router and I've screwed it up too many times already to bother attempting to fix it in fear that I'll screw it up even more than I have (and my dad wouldn't like that either :P)
Okay... I don't know what to do, I installed a mod "The Mars Effect" and was playing the mod for a few games, then decided to try playing online, well I disabled the mod first and then tried to connect to a game and I keep getting an error that I don't have the same mesh files as the host.... I reinstalled the game, and then tried again and I'm still getting the same problem... Any ideas of what is wrong?!
I'm trying to mod this game so that the upkeep isn't so dang expensive at the higher levels, I've hopped around through the "RESEARCSUBJECT_MAXSHIPSLOTPHASE#" to see if there was the upkeep increaser in there and didn't see anything recognizable... If anyone knows where I may find the upkeep files, it'd be appreciated! :D -FENDRYX
Actually, I figured this out last night after doing some google-research, I found out its actually quite simple to link wormholes, its just not the most obvious method :) First off you gotta have your wormholes, destinations A and B (just using this as reference), then place em where ever you want them, then create a phase line from the two of them, select the phase line, and in the toolbox editor, i forget exactly where it is, but it will say "Phase Line" if you select that, a dropdow
Alright! So I'm excited, im working on my first map! So heres my general layout... There are 5 star systems, 1 system for each player to start out in, and 1 system is completely nuetral and is only accesible via wormholes, and you're only able to get to the other players star systems by going through these worm holes to get there! My question is, I can't figure out how to link wormholes, I have tried to create a phase line between the two destinations, but t
Well are they technically all "unsettled"? From all of my playing (about 2 games so far lol) all the uninhabited planets are guarded by a couple pirates (not that big of a deal, but still :) )
Awesome! Thank you! Sorry got another question: Seeing that this game is cheaper to just buy in stores, I'm probably going to go that why, you mentioned something about after you buy or register it, you can redownload it, does this go for hard copies as well? Once it's registered you can download it online? I mean, I'm not planning to lose my copies (hell, I put every game I own in its original packaging when Im not using it)
Couldn't you just take a planet, colonize it a little bit, and build up some defenses on it to prevent the enemy from island hopping it? Thats probably exactly why the devs didn't put this in the game, is to keep some challenge in the game, rather than just destroying ALL the planets you don't want or need.
Okay! So here I am, I have been reading reviews, watching videos, and dreaming about how I wish I owned this game! Well, I am very intrigued by the "soft" Copy that you can buy and download. Well I only have 1 concern, and I went to the FAQs before i came here, and my only concern is, if I buy a soft copy, will I be able to back my copy onto a DVD so I can store my game in case my computer crashed or something happens to the file? If thats not possible, will I be able to retrie
